A recent scientific study has shown that reducing sugar intake during the first two years of life may be associated with better brain health in later stages of life, as the results indicated that individuals who had their sugar intake limited in early childhood were up to 23% less likely to develop dementia.
Researchers at the Hong Kong University of Science and Technology relied on analyzing data from around 65,000 participants in the "UK Biobank" project, aiming to explore the relationship between sugar consumption in early childhood and brain health as one ages.
Researcher Jiatian Cheng explained that the results suggest that reducing sugar in very early stages may carry long-term benefits for the brain, but he emphasized the need for further studies to understand the mechanisms of this association more accurately.
