استيقظ الشارع الجزائري على وقع مأساة مرورية مروعة أعادت إلى الأذهان كوابيس الطرقات، بعدما أدى انحراف حافلة لنقل المسافرين وانقلابها إلى هبوطها السريع في منحدر خطير بمنطقة «رحمون الكرمة» التابعة لبلدية بومرداس شرقي العاصمة.
الحادثة الأليمة خلفت حصيلة أولية ثقيلة وصادمة، إذ أسفرت عن مصرع 25 شخصاً وإصابة 44 آخرين بجروح متفاوتة الخطورة، وسط حالة من الاستنفار الشديد التي أعلنتها مختلف الأجهزة بالمنطقة.
المشاهد الصعبة في موقع الحادثة استنفرت أجهزة الإغاثة، حيث دفعت الحماية المدنية بأسراب من سيارات الإسعاف وشاحنات الإنقاذ للتعامل مع ركام الحافلة المنكوبة، ونقل العشرات من المصابين بصورة عاجلة نحو المستشفيات القريبة لتلقي الرعاية الطبية الفائقة.
وحول صعوبة المشهد، جرى تحويل جثامين الضحايا إلى مصلحة حفظ الجثث، بينما واصلت الفرق الميدانية عمليات تمشيط المنحدر للتأكد من عدم وجود مفقودين تحت الأنقاض.
وأمام هول الصدمة التي خيمت على الجزائر، وصل رئيس الوزراء الجزائري سيفي غريب إلى موقع الكارثة للوقوف بنفسه على سير عمليات الإنقاذ والاطلاع على الإجراءات الطارئة المتخذة للتكفل بالضحايا وعائلاتهم.
فيما فتحت السلطات المختصة تحقيقات موسعة لفك أسرار وملابسات الانحراف المفاجئ للحافلة، للوقوف على الأسباب الحقيقية التي حولت رحلة سفر عادية إلى واحدة من أسوأ الفواجع المرورية في الفترة الأخيرة.
The Algerian street woke up to the sound of a horrific traffic tragedy that brought back nightmares of the roads, after a passenger bus veered off course and overturned, plunging rapidly down a dangerous slope in the "Rahmoun al-Karma" area of the Boumerdes municipality, east of the capital.
The painful incident resulted in a heavy and shocking initial toll, as it led to the death of 25 people and injured 44 others with varying degrees of severity, amidst a state of heightened alert declared by various agencies in the area.
The difficult scenes at the accident site prompted rescue services to spring into action, as the civil protection agency deployed swarms of ambulances and rescue trucks to deal with the wreckage of the stricken bus, and urgently transported dozens of the injured to nearby hospitals for critical medical care.
Regarding the difficulty of the scene, the bodies of the victims were transferred to the morgue, while field teams continued their search operations on the slope to ensure that there were no missing persons under the rubble.
In light of the shock that enveloped Algeria, Algerian Prime Minister Saïf Ghareb arrived at the disaster site to personally oversee the rescue operations and to review the emergency measures taken to assist the victims and their families.
Meanwhile, the relevant authorities opened extensive investigations to uncover the secrets and circumstances surrounding the sudden veering of the bus, to determine the real causes that turned an ordinary travel journey into one of the worst traffic tragedies in recent times.
