The tragedy, which the Egyptian Administrative Control Authority revealed shocking details about, revolved around the mandatory medical examination certificates for those about to get married. Instead of going to hospitals, hundreds of grooms fell into the trap of a highly intelligent and dangerous digital fraud network.

How Was the Trap Set?

The story was not just a simple forgery; it was a highly professional "digital hunting" operation that relied on exploiting technology and the victims' eagerness to quickly complete their official paperwork.

Here’s how the wheels of this conspiracy turned step by step:

• Cloning the official platform (the first digital trap): The perpetrators created fake websites and electronic accounts that closely mimicked the official platform of the "Medical Examination Initiative for Those About to Marry" affiliated with the Egyptian Ministry of Health (100 Million Health).
• Temptation of speed and convenience (marketing the illusion): The network exploited some people's desire to avoid hospital and medical center queues, promoting the possibility of completing examinations and paying fees "online" entirely from home.
• Collecting money and reaping millions (the looting operation): Victims paid exorbitant fees through fake electronic payment gateways, with this money going directly into the personal accounts of the perpetrators, achieving profits exceeding 26 million pounds.
• Issuing poisoned documents (the legal predicament): The fraudsters sent the victims "completely forged" medical examination certificates, bearing meticulously replicated stamps from government and private entities, leading the grooms to discover the disaster later when trying to officially document their marriage contract with the officiant.

The End of the Empire

The gang's joy over the "grooms' money" did not last long, as the Cybercrime Combat Administration, in full coordination with the Ministry of Health, succeeded in tracking the digital footprint of these fraudsters and accurately locating them.

With an official permit from the Public Prosecution, security forces raided their activity locations in a swift security operation that resulted in:

• The arrest of 19 suspects from the masterminds and executors in the criminal organization.

• Seizure of huge quantities of forged government stamps, printers, and advanced devices used in forgery.

• Finding large sums of money, alongside contracts for purchasing luxury properties that the suspects bought as a way to launder the victims' money.

In an official statement, the Administrative Control Authority urged all those about to get married in Egypt to only deal with the officially approved state platforms, and to technically verify website links before entering any personal data or making any payments, to prevent falling into the traps of these electronic gangs.
