بدأت القصة عندما اشتعلت منصتا «إكس» و«ريديت» بصورة جرى تداولها بمعدلات جنونية، تُظهر السيناتور الأمريكي البارز ميتش ماكونيل مستلقياً في حالة صحية حرجة جداً داخل غرفة العناية المركزة، وجسده مغطى بالخراطيم والأنابيب الطبية.
اللقطة بدت حقيقية وصادمة لدرجة جعلت الملايين يصدقونها، خصوصا أنها جاءت بالتزامن مع اختفاء السيناتور عن الأنظار عقب نقله للمستشفى إثر اتصال طارئ في 14 يونيو. وبينما كانت أمريكا تستعد لإعلان خبر صادم، تدخل موقع التحقق الشهير «Snopes» ليفجر المفاجأة: الصورة وهمية بنسبة 100%!
كيف أسقطت «مصيدة قوقل» الزيف الرقمي؟

الحصانة ضد التشويه: تتميز هذه العلامة بأنها «تلتصق بالصورة كظلها»، فلا تختفي حتى لو قام المستخدمون بإعادة نشرها، أو تعديل حجمها، أو التقاط لقطة شاشة (Screenshot) لها.

The Ghost Signature: The technology embeds a completely hidden digital watermark within the pixels of the image during its creation by artificial intelligence, making it invisible to the naked eye regardless of observational precision.
Immunity Against Distortion: This watermark is characterized by "sticking to the image like its shadow," so it does not disappear even if users repost it, resize it, or take a screenshot of it.
