استيقظت محافظة «تيكيرداغ» شمال غربي تركيا، في الساعات الأولى من فجر أمس (السبت)، على دوي انفجار مروع ناجم عن تسرب في تمديدات الغاز الطبيعي داخل شقة بالطابق السادس، أسفر عن مصرع شخصين وإصابة اثنين آخرين بجروح متفاوتة الخطورة.
ووثقت مقاطع فيديو التُقطت من مسرح الحادثة مشاهد صادمة تعكس ضراوة الانفجار؛ إذ انهار جزء كبير من جدران الشقة بفعل شدة الضغط، ما أدى إلى قذف شخصين إلى الأسفل ليُعثر عليهما جثتين هامدتين على الرصيف.
وتسببت الشظايا والركام المتطاير في تحطيم واجهة المبنى بالكامل وإلحاق أضرار بالغة بالسيارات المصطفة في الشارع، لتبدو المنطقة في لحظات وكأنها تعرضت لقصف في ساحة معركة.
وعاشت المنطقة حالة عارمة من الهلع؛ إذ هرع سكان البناية والمباني المجاورة إلى الشوارع بلباس النوم وسط صرخات الذعر، في حين طوقت فرق الطوارئ والإسعاف الموقع على عجل لبدء عمليات الإنقاذ وتفقد الطوابق المتضررة.
ووسط أكوام الركام والغبار الذي ملأ الأجواء، خيمت حالة من القلق؛ إذ تجمهر عشرات المواطنين في الأسفل وعيونهم شاخصة نحو الطوابق العلوية، بينما انشغل آخرون بإجراء اتصالات هاتفية متسارعة بأقاربهم لطمأنتهم والدموع تملأ مآقيهم.
The province of "Tekirdağ" in northwestern Turkey woke up in the early hours of dawn yesterday (Saturday) to the sound of a horrific explosion caused by a gas leak in the natural gas installations inside a sixth-floor apartment, resulting in the death of two people and injuries to two others of varying severity.
Videos recorded from the scene of the incident captured shocking images reflecting the ferocity of the explosion; a large part of the apartment's walls collapsed due to the intensity of the pressure, causing two people to be thrown down and found as lifeless bodies on the sidewalk.
The flying debris and shrapnel completely shattered the building's facade and caused severe damage to the cars parked on the street, making the area look, in moments, as if it had been bombed in a battlefield.
The area experienced a state of overwhelming panic; residents of the building and neighboring buildings rushed into the streets in their pajamas amid screams of terror, while emergency and ambulance teams quickly cordoned off the site to begin rescue operations and inspect the damaged floors.
Amid the piles of rubble and the dust that filled the air, a state of anxiety loomed; dozens of citizens gathered below, their eyes fixed on the upper floors, while others busily made frantic phone calls to their relatives to reassure them, tears filling their eyes.
