في وقت تعيش فيه إسبانيا صدمة مناخية عنيفة وموجات حر متتالية حطمت الأرقام القياسية، لم تعد حماية العمال في الشوارع تقتصر على تقديم الماء ومظلات الشمس. مدينة برشلونة قررت اللجوء إلى التكنولوجيا لحماية الأرواح، وبدأت بالفعل في توزيع أساور ذكية متطورة على العاملين في المناطق المفتوحة، لتكون بمثابة «نظام إنذار مبكر» يتدخل في الثواني الأخيرة قبل حدوث الفاجعة الصحية.
جاءت الخطوة الاستثنائية بعد تقارير مرعبة كشفت تسجيل أكثر من 1000 حالة وفاة زائدة عن المعدلات الطبيعية خلال شهر يونيو وحده، بسبب الارتفاع الجنوني في درجات الحرارة التي ضربت البلاد.
تكنولوجيا تنقذ الأرواح في الشارع
وزعت برشلونة نحو 1400 سوار ذكي على الموظفين الأكثر عرضة للخطر بسبب عملهم تحت لهيب الشمس الحارق، الذين تشمل مهامهم اليومية جهداً بدنياً شاقاً في الهواء الطلق، وهم:
- عمال نظافة الشوارع والساحات العامة.
- فرق صيانة الإضاءة والشبكات الكهربائية.
- عمال الحدائق والمتنزهات العامة.
- موظفو قطاع إدارة النفايات.
آلية عمل السوار شديدة الدقة، حيث يقوم الجهاز بمراقبة مستمرة لدرجة حرارة جسم العامل ومؤشراته الحيوية في الزمن الحقيقي. وإذا استشعر السوار أن حرارة الجسم بدأت ترتفع إلى مستويات تشكل خطراً حتمياً على الحياة (مثل التعرض لضربة شمس قاتلة)، يصدر فوراً اهتزازات عنيفة وأصوات إنذار حادة. في تلك اللحظة، يفرض بروتوكول السلامة على العامل التوقف عن العمل فوراً واللجوء إلى أقرب منطقة ظل.
ولم تأت هذه الإجراءات الصارمة من فراغ، فقد شهدت إسبانيا في السنوات القليلة الماضية حوادث مأساوية لوفاة عدد من عمال الشوارع أثناء تأدية واجبهم بسبب الإجهاد الحراري المفرط، ما فجر غضباً شعبياً وأجبر السلطات على تغيير نمط وظروف العمل تماماً.
وأوضح بيب ليمونا منسق الوقاية في دائرة الحدائق والمتنزهات ببرشلونة، لوسائل الإعلام المحلية، أن هذه الأساور هي جزء من خطة شاملة للتكيف مع تغير مناخي بات «حاداً ومتزايداً بشكل مرعب».
وما يزيد الوضع تعقيداً أن هيئة الأرصاد الجوية الإسبانية أعلنت أن شهر يونيو الماضي كان ثاني أكثر الشهور حرارة منذ بدء تسجيل البيانات المناخية في تاريخ البلاد، مؤكدة أن المدن الإسبانية تستعد لاستقبال موجة حر ثانية أشد عنفاً تبدأ مع مطلع الأسبوع، ما يجعل هذه الأساور الذكية حائط الصد الأخير بين العمال والموت الصامت تحت أشعة الشمس.

The city of Barcelona has decided to turn to technology to save lives and has already begun distributing advanced smart bracelets to workers in open areas, serving as an "early warning system" that intervenes in the last seconds before a health disaster occurs.
This extraordinary step came after terrifying reports revealed more than 1,000 excess deaths above normal rates during the month of June alone, due to the insane rise in temperatures that hit the country.
Technology that Saves Lives on the Street
Barcelona has distributed about 1,400 smart bracelets to employees most at risk due to their work under the scorching sun, whose daily tasks involve strenuous physical effort outdoors, including:
- Street and public square cleaning workers.
- Lighting and electrical network maintenance teams.
- Gardeners and public park workers.
- Waste management sector employees.
The mechanism of the bracelet is highly precise, as the device continuously monitors the worker's body temperature and vital signs in real-time. If the bracelet senses that the body temperature is beginning to rise to levels that pose an imminent danger to life (such as the risk of a fatal heat stroke), it immediately emits violent vibrations and sharp alarm sounds. At that moment, the safety protocol mandates that the worker stop working immediately and seek the nearest shaded area.
These strict measures did not come out of nowhere; Spain has witnessed tragic incidents in recent years where several street workers died while performing their duties due to excessive heat stress, which sparked public outrage and forced authorities to completely change work patterns and conditions.
Pepe Limona, the prevention coordinator at the Barcelona Parks and Gardens Department, explained to local media that these bracelets are part of a comprehensive plan to adapt to climate change that has become "acute and increasingly terrifying."
Complicating matters further, the Spanish meteorological agency announced that last June was the second hottest month since climate data recording began in the country's history, confirming that Spanish cities are preparing to face a second, more intense heatwave starting at the beginning of the week, making these smart bracelets the last line of defense between workers and silent death under the sun's rays.
