حذرت المنظمة العالمية للأرصاد الجوية من أن تطور ظاهرة «النينو» بوتيرة سريعة بين يوليو وسبتمبر سيزيد موجات الحر والظواهر الجوية المتطرفة حول العالم خلال الأشهر القليلة القادمة.
وأكدت أن الظاهرة ستسهم في رفع متوسط درجات الحرارة حول العالم، مع توقعات بجفاف في الأمريكتين وجنوب شرق آسيا، مقابل أمطار أعلى من المعدلات واحتمال فيضانات في شرق أفريقيا، داعيةً الدول إلى اتخاذ إجراءات مبكرة تجاه ذلك.
The World Meteorological Organization has warned that the rapid development of the "El Niño" phenomenon between July and September will increase heatwaves and extreme weather events around the world in the coming months.
It confirmed that the phenomenon will contribute to raising the average temperatures globally, with forecasts of drought in the Americas and Southeast Asia, alongside higher-than-average rainfall and the possibility of flooding in East Africa, urging countries to take early action in response to this.
