أوضحت الوزيرة البريطانية الأسباب الكامنة وراء هذا الانشقاق الرقمي، مشيرة بحسم إلى أن المنصة انحرفت تماماً عن مسارها الأصلي، ووفقاً لما نقلته وكالة «رويترز»، قالت ناندي في منشورها الأخير: «المنصة التي صُممت في الأصل من أجل حرية الكلام والتعبير أصبحت الآن تفضل الإساءة والمعلومات المضللة على النقاش الهادف. وهذا أمر غير صحي لديمقراطيتنا أو لمجتمعاتنا، ولا أريد أن أدعمه».
هذا القرار شكّل هزة قوية داخل منصات التواصل الاجتماعي، حيث قررت وزارة الثقافة والإعلام والرياضة البريطانية – بصفتها الجهة المنوط بها تنظيم قطاع الإعلام الرقمي – إيقاف كافة أنشطتها وحساباتها الرسمية على «إكس» بشكل فوري.
وتأتي هذه المقاطعة في وقت حساس جداً تواجه فيه المنصة انتقادات دولية متزايدة وخروجاً جماعياً لعدد من المؤسسات والشخصيات العامة، بسبب خوارزمياتها الجديدة التي يرى نقادها أنها تمنح مساحات أوسع لخطاب الكراهية والشائعات، مما يفتح الباب أمام تساؤلات كبرى حول مستقبل علاقة الحكومات الغربية بإمبراطورية إيلون ماسك الرقمية.

This is unhealthy for our democracy or our communities, and I do not wish to support it."
This decision has created a strong shockwave within social media platforms, as the British Department for Culture, Media and Sport – the authority responsible for regulating the digital media sector – decided to immediately halt all its activities and official accounts on "X".
This boycott comes at a very sensitive time when the platform is facing increasing international criticism and a mass exodus of several institutions and public figures, due to its new algorithms that critics believe provide wider spaces for hate speech and rumors, raising major questions about the future of the relationship between Western governments and Elon Musk's digital empire.
