Meta has expanded the availability of the "Instagram for TV" app to include smart TVs in the United States, as part of its strategy to enhance the consumption of visual content on larger screens and broaden the platform's usage beyond smartphones.
This expansion follows the launch of the app on Amazon Fire TV devices in late 2025, and then on devices running Google TV during 2026, making the app currently available across several prominent internet-connected TV platforms.
The update supports smart TVs from Samsung released since 2020, with the addition of new tools aimed at facilitating content discovery and viewing within homes. Meta is also testing dedicated channels that showcase Reels clips based on user interests, such as sports, comedy, and content related to specific creators.
The company has also enabled the ability to send Reels clips from smartphones to the TV screen, including previously saved clips, in a move aimed at enhancing integration between different devices.
Additionally, Meta continues to test extra features including a dedicated space for horizontal videos and is exploring the provision of longer and more cohesive content, along with researching the support for live streaming via TV in the future, without announcing an official timeline for the launch of these features.
