أثارت قضية طالب لجوء إيراني في بريطانيا جدلاً واسعاً بعد لجوئه إلى دفاع وصفته وسائل إعلام بريطانية بـ«الغريب» في محاولة لتفنيد اتهامه بمحاولة اغتصاب امرأة في العاصمة لندن.
ووفقاً لما أوردته صحيفة (ديلي ميل)، أدانت محكمة (سنيرسبروك كراون) حسين محمدي (35 عاماً) بتهمة محاولة اغتصاب امرأة، بعدما رفضت هيئة المحلفين دفوعه التي استندت إلى ادعاءات تتعلق بحالته الصحية وقدرته الجنسية.
وكشفت جلسات المحاكمة أن محمدي تعقّب الضحية لمدة تقارب الساعة أثناء عودتها إلى منزلها عقب مشاركتها في حفل عيد ميلاد خلال عام 2024، حيث تبعها لمسافة تقدر بنحو ثلاثة أميال من منطقة (وايت تشابل) إلى ستراتفورد، واستقل وسيلة النقل نفسها التي استخدمتها.
وبحسب الأدلة المقدمة أمام المحكمة، انتهى الاعتداء بعد نحو 27 ثانية فقط إثر تدخل راكب دراجة مرَّ بالمكان، وتمكّن من إنقاذ المرأة، التي وصفته لاحقاً بأنه «ملاك نجدة» جاء في لحظة حاسمة.
وخلال المحاكمة، حاول المتهم إقناع هيئة المحلفين بأنه غير قادر جسدياً على ارتكاب الجريمة، مشيراً إلى عوامل صحية عدة من بينها السمنة والتدخين والاكتئاب، فضلاً عن مزاعم تتعلق بحجم عضوه التناسلي وانخفاض رغبته الجنسية.
إلا أن استشاري المسالك البولية الدكتور جورج فوليس فنّد هذه المزاعم أمام المحكمة، مؤكداً أن الفحوص الطبية لا تدعم ادعاءات المتهم، كما أشار إلى وجود مراسلات إلكترونية تتعلق بطلب تقدَّم به محمدي للتبرع بالحيوانات المنوية، وهو ما اعتبرته المحكمة مؤشراً يتعارض مع مزاعمه بشأن العجز الجنسي.
وعرض الادعاء أمام هيئة المحلفين تسجيلات مصورة أظهرت المتهم وهو يتتبع الضحية في الشوارع ويعبر الطرق كلما عبرتها، بينما التقطت التسجيلات الصوتية صرخات المرأة وهي تطالبه بالابتعاد عنها، رغم أن موقع الاعتداء نفسه كان بعيداً عن نطاق الكاميرات.
كما سلطت القضية الضوء على السجل الجنائي للمتهم، إذ تبين أنه سبق أن أُدين خمس مرات في ألمانيا في قضايا شملت الاعتداء والتخريب الجنائي قبل وصوله إلى المملكة المتحدة. وأفادت المحكمة بأنه دخل عدداً من الدول الأوروبية بصورة غير قانونية خلال رحلته من إيران إلى بريطانيا، كما سبق أن صدر بحقه حكم بالسجن لمدة عشرة أشهر بسبب قيادته قارب مهاجرين عبر القناة الإنجليزية.
وخلال استجوابه، اعترف محمدي بأنه كان يتصفّح في اليوم السابق للواقعة مواقع إلكترونية متخصصة في محتوى جنسي، مدعياً أن الهدف من ذلك كان تحسين مستواه في اللغة الإنجليزية، وهو ما أثار تشكيك الادعاء الذي اعتبر التبرير غير مقنع.
ومن المنتظر أن تصدر المحكمة البريطانية الحكم النهائي بحق المتهم خلال الشهر المقبل، بعد إدانته بمحاولة الاغتصاب، في قضية أثارت اهتماماً واسعاً في وسائل الإعلام البريطانية؛ بسبب طبيعة الدفاع الذي حاول المتهم الاستناد إليه والوقائع المثيرة التي كشفتها جلسات المحاكمة.
The case of an Iranian asylum seeker in Britain has sparked widespread controversy after he resorted to a defense described by British media as "strange" in an attempt to refute accusations of attempting to rape a woman in the capital, London.
According to the (Daily Mail), the (Snaresbrook Crown) court convicted Hossein Mohammadi (35 years old) of attempted rape after the jury rejected his defenses, which were based on claims regarding his health condition and sexual ability.
Trial sessions revealed that Mohammadi stalked the victim for nearly an hour while she was returning home after attending a birthday party in 2024, following her for approximately three miles from the Whitechapel area to Stratford, and even took the same mode of transport she used.
According to the evidence presented in court, the assault ended after only about 27 seconds due to the intervention of a passing cyclist, who managed to rescue the woman, who later described him as a "guardian angel" who arrived at a critical moment.
During the trial, the defendant attempted to convince the jury that he was physically incapable of committing the crime, citing several health factors including obesity, smoking, and depression, as well as claims regarding the size of his genitalia and low sexual desire.
However, urology consultant Dr. George Foulis refuted these claims in court, confirming that medical examinations did not support the defendant's allegations, and pointed to electronic correspondence related to a request made by Mohammadi to donate sperm, which the court considered an indication that contradicted his claims of sexual incapacity.
The prosecution presented the jury with video recordings showing the defendant stalking the victim in the streets and crossing roads whenever she did, while audio recordings captured the woman's screams as she demanded he stay away from her, even though the location of the assault itself was outside the range of the cameras.
The case also highlighted the defendant's criminal record, revealing that he had previously been convicted five times in Germany for offenses including assault and criminal damage before arriving in the UK. The court noted that he had entered several European countries illegally during his journey from Iran to Britain, and he had previously received a ten-month prison sentence for piloting a migrant boat across the English Channel.
During his interrogation, Mohammadi admitted that he had been browsing websites specializing in sexual content the day before the incident, claiming that the purpose was to improve his English skills, which raised doubts from the prosecution, who found the justification unconvincing.
The British court is expected to issue its final ruling against the defendant next month after convicting him of attempted rape, in a case that has garnered significant media attention in Britain due to the nature of the defense the defendant attempted to rely on and the sensational facts revealed during the trial.
