The Emirati company "ADNOC" announced that one of its vessels was targeted by a missile while crossing the Strait of Hormuz today (Saturday), according to the Emirates News Agency "WAM".
The company added that the targeting did not result in any injuries, confirming that the situation is under control.
The UAE expressed its strong condemnation and denunciation of the Iranian aggressive attack that targeted a tanker belonging to "ADNOC" with a missile while crossing the Strait of Hormuz, without any injuries being reported.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs, in a statement, confirmed that this attack constitutes a blatant violation of Security Council Resolution 2817, which emphasized the freedom of navigation and the rejection of targeting commercial vessels or disrupting international maritime routes, stressing that targeting commercial navigation and using the Strait of Hormuz as a tool for pressure or economic extortion are acts of piracy committed by the Iranian Revolutionary Guard, posing a direct threat to the stability of the region and its peoples, as well as to global energy security.
The UAE emphasized the necessity for Iran to stop these aggressive attacks, ensuring its complete commitment to halting all hostilities and fully and unconditionally reopening the strait, achieving the security of the region and the stability of the global economy and trade.
For his part, the spokesperson for the Iranian Revolutionary Guard, Sardar Mohabi, considered that the reopening of the Strait of Hormuz is subject to specific mechanisms and conditions set by Tehran, and is not related to the ongoing negotiations between Iran and Oman.
He claimed, in statements to the "Tasnim" agency in Bandar Abbas, that the Strait of Hormuz is not merely an economic waterway, but represents an element of geographical and strategic power.
He alleged that the opening of the strait is contingent upon "the United States' full acceptance of Iran's conditions and its cessation of interference in the course of regional negotiations".
