فيما تتواصل المفاوضات بشأن ترتيبات إعادة فتح مضيق هرمز، كشفت صحيفة «وول ستريت جورنال» الأمريكية أن الولايات المتحدة أبلغت الوسطاء رفضها فرض أي قيود أو رسوم إيرانية على حركة الملاحة في الممر الحيوي.
وأفادت الصحيفة بأن واشنطن أبلغت الوسطاء المشاركين في المحادثات الجارية رفضها أي قيود إيرانية على حركة السفن عبر مضيق هرمز، مؤكدة أن حرية الملاحة في الممر الاستراتيجي تمثل خطاً أحمر لا يمكن التفاوض بشأنه.
وأضافت أن هذا الموقف يأتي في ظل تباينات بين الجانبين بشأن شروط إعادة فتح المضيق أمام حركة الملاحة البحرية، مشيرةً إلى أن مسألة فرض قيود أو رسوم من جانب إيران تعد إحدى نقاط الخلاف الرئيسية التي تعرقل التوصل إلى اتفاق.
في سياق متصل، قالت الصحيفة إن إيران لوّحت بمنع السفن التابعة للبحرية الأمريكية من عبور مضيق هرمز ضمن الترتيبات التي يجري التفاوض عليها، وهو ما قوبل برفض أمريكي حازم.
من جانبه، دافع الرئيس الإيراني مسعود بيزشكيان عن سياسات حكومته في مواجهة المتشددين الذين عارضوا المفاوضات مع الولايات المتحدة.
وقال بيزشكيان في مقابلة مع التلفزيون الرسمي، بثت أمس (الجمعة)، إن معظم كبار القادة العسكريين يؤيدون إجراء محادثات مع الولايات المتحدة للتوصل إلى اتفاق يوقف القتال.
وأضاف: «أكبر عدو لأمريكا هو الصين، فلماذا لا يقاتلونها؟ الصين تمضي في طريقها وتزداد قوة يوماً بعد يوم»، وتساءل: «عندما يمكننا الحصول على حقوقنا عبر الحوار، فلماذا لا نفعل ذلك؟».
As negotiations continue regarding the arrangements for reopening the Strait of Hormuz, the American newspaper "The Wall Street Journal" revealed that the United States has informed intermediaries of its rejection of any Iranian restrictions or fees on navigation in the vital corridor.
The newspaper reported that Washington informed the intermediaries involved in the ongoing talks of its rejection of any Iranian restrictions on the movement of ships through the Strait of Hormuz, emphasizing that freedom of navigation in the strategic corridor is a red line that cannot be negotiated.
It added that this position comes amid differences between the two sides regarding the terms for reopening the strait to maritime traffic, noting that the issue of imposing restrictions or fees by Iran is one of the main points of contention that hinder reaching an agreement.
In a related context, the newspaper stated that Iran has threatened to prevent U.S. Navy ships from crossing the Strait of Hormuz as part of the arrangements being negotiated, which was met with a firm American rejection.
For his part, Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian defended his government's policies against hardliners who opposed negotiations with the United States.
Pezeshkian said in an interview with state television, broadcast yesterday (Friday), that most senior military leaders support conducting talks with the United States to reach an agreement that stops the fighting.
He added: "America's biggest enemy is China, so why don't they fight it? China is moving forward and growing stronger day by day," and he questioned: "When we can obtain our rights through dialogue, why don't we do that?"
