تحوّل شغف المغامرة إلى رحلة موت مرعبة فوق قمة أحد أكثر جبال إندونيسيا البركانية نشاطاً، حيث لقي 3 أشخاص مصرعهم، بينهم مواطنان من سنغافورة، إثر ثوران مفاجئ ومروع لبركان «جبل دوكونو» في ساعات الصباح الأولى اليوم (الجمعة).
فخ الموت فوق فوهة البركان
باغت الثوران البركاني مجموعة من المتنزهين أثناء تسلقهم الجبل الواقع في إقليم «نورث مالوكو». وبالإضافة إلى الضحايا الـ3، أصيب 5 متسلقين بجروح خطيرة، بينما تسابق فرق الإنقاذ الزمن للوصول إلى 20 متسلقاً آخرين لا يزالون «عالقين» وسط تضاريس بركانية وعرة وسحب من الرماد الخانق.
الصادم في الواقعة ما كشفه مركز مراقبة البراكين، بأن تسلق جبل دوكونو كان محظوراً رسمياً منذ 17 أبريل الماضي بسبب نشاطه المريب، إلا أن المجموعة المنكوبة تسللت إلى المنطقة دون تصاريح أو إبلاغ السلطات، لتجد نفسها في مواجهة مباشرة مع «جحيم» بركاني لم يمهلهم وقتاً للهرب.
وتعيش فرق البحث والإنقاذ حالة من الاستنفار القصوى، إلا أن الرماد الكثيف والظروف الجوية القاسية تعرقل الوصول إلى العالقين في المنطقة الواقعة ضمن «حلقة النار» بالمحيط الهادئ. وأعادت الحادثة للأذهان خطورة «سياحة البراكين» حين يتم تجاهل نداءات السلامة، حيث لا تتجاوز المسافة بين المغامرة والنهاية ثوانٍ معدودة.
The passion for adventure turned into a terrifying death journey atop one of Indonesia's most active volcanic mountains, where 3 people lost their lives, including two citizens from Singapore, due to a sudden and horrific eruption of the "Mount Dukono" volcano in the early hours of the morning today (Friday).
The Death Trap Above the Volcano Crater
The volcanic eruption caught a group of hikers off guard while they were climbing the mountain located in the "North Maluku" province. In addition to the 3 victims, 5 climbers were seriously injured, while rescue teams raced against time to reach 20 other climbers who were still "trapped" amid rugged volcanic terrain and clouds of suffocating ash.
The shocking aspect of the incident was revealed by the Volcano Monitoring Center, which stated that climbing Mount Dukono had been officially prohibited since April 17 due to its suspicious activity. However, the ill-fated group sneaked into the area without permits or notifying the authorities, finding themselves face to face with a volcanic "hell" that gave them no time to escape.
Search and rescue teams are in a state of maximum alert, but the thick ash and harsh weather conditions are hindering access to those trapped in the area located within the "Ring of Fire" in the Pacific. The incident has brought to mind the dangers of "volcano tourism" when safety warnings are ignored, as the distance between adventure and demise is just a few seconds.
