تستعد إسبانيا لإغلاق مطار سانتياغو روزاليا دي كاسترو بشكل كامل لمدة 35 يوماً، ابتداءً من 23 أبريل وحتى 27 مايو، ضمن مشروع شامل لتجديد مدرج الإقلاع والهبوط، في توقيت حساس يسبق ذروة موسم السفر الصيفي بأسابيع.
توقف الرحلات
وسيترتب على الإغلاق إلغاء جميع الرحلات الجوية، القادمة والمغادرة، خلال الفترة المحددة، ما يُتوقع أن يؤثر على مئات الآلاف من المسافرين، ويضع شركات الطيران أمام تحديات تشغيلية، خصوصاً مع الطلب المرتفع في هذا التوقيت من العام.
مشروع تطوير
وأوضحت شركة Aena أن الإغلاق ضروري لتنفيذ أعمال صيانة متقدمة تشمل تجديد طبقات المدرج بعمق يصل إلى 1.28 متر في بعض المناطق، إلى جانب تحديث أنظمة الإضاءة والتصريف، باستخدام نحو 73 ألف طن من الأسفلت.
تكلفة وأهداف
وتبلغ تكلفة المشروع أكثر من 26.6 مليون يورو، ويهدف إلى تعزيز معايير السلامة التشغيلية وإطالة العمر الافتراضي للمدرج لسنوات قادمة، في ظل الاستخدام المكثف الذي شهده المطار خلال السنوات الماضية.
بوابة سياحية
ويُعد المطار ثاني أكثر المطارات ازدحاماً في شمال إسبانيا، ويمثل بوابة رئيسية للسياحة الدينية والثقافية في منطقة غاليسيا، نظراً لارتباطه بمسار كامينو دي سانتياغو المدرج ضمن قائمة التراث العالمي لليونسكو.
تأثيرات متوقعة
ويخدم المطار رحلات منتظمة من عدة وجهات أوروبية، بمشاركة شركات منخفضة التكلفة، من بينها Ryanair، ما يزيد من حجم التأثير المتوقع على حركة السفر والسياحة.

Spain is preparing to fully close Santiago Rosalía de Castro Airport for 35 days, starting from April 23 until May 27, as part of a comprehensive project to renew the runway, at a sensitive time just weeks before the peak summer travel season.

The closure will result in the cancellation of all incoming and outgoing flights during the specified period, which is expected to affect hundreds of thousands of travelers and pose operational challenges for airlines, especially with the high demand at this time of year.

Aena stated that the closure is necessary to carry out advanced maintenance work, including renewing the runway layers to a depth of up to 1.28 meters in some areas, along with updating lighting and drainage systems, using about 73,000 tons of asphalt.
Cost and Objectives
The project costs more than 26.6 million euros and aims to enhance operational safety standards and extend the runway's lifespan for years to come, given the intense usage the airport has experienced in recent years.
Tourist Gateway
The airport is the second busiest in northern Spain and serves as a major gateway for religious and cultural tourism in the Galicia region, due to its connection to the Camino de Santiago, which is listed as a UNESCO World Heritage site.
