ضربت هزات أرضية عدة جزر إيطالية في البحر المتوسط في وقت مبكر اليوم.
وأفاد المعهد الوطني للجيوفيزياء وعلم البراكين الإيطالي بأن هزة أرضية بقوة 4.6 درجة على مقياس ريختر وقعت على عمق 29 كيلومترًا بالقرب من الجزر الإيولية في البحر التيراني قبالة الساحل الشمالي لصقلية، كما ضربت هزة أرضية بقوة 4.3 درجة منطقة قريبة بعد ثلاث دقائق.
وقالت وكالة الأنباء الإيطالية «أنسا»، إن الهزة الأرضية التي بلغت قوتها 4.3 درجة شعر بها سكان مدينة باليرمو الصقلية وكذلك منطقة ريجيو كالابريا في البر الرئيسي الإيطالي، كما وقعت بعد ذلك عدة هزات أرضية أقل قوة.
ولم ترد على الفور تقارير عن وقوع أي خسائر بشرية أو مادية جراء الهزات الأرضية.
Several earthquakes struck Italian islands in the Mediterranean early today.
The Italian National Institute of Geophysics and Volcanology reported that an earthquake measuring 4.6 on the Richter scale occurred at a depth of 29 kilometers near the Aeolian Islands in the Tyrrhenian Sea off the northern coast of Sicily, followed by a 4.3 magnitude earthquake in a nearby area three minutes later.
Italian news agency "ANSA" stated that the 4.3 magnitude earthquake was felt by residents of the Sicilian city of Palermo as well as the Reggio Calabria area on the Italian mainland, and several smaller aftershocks occurred afterward.
No immediate reports of casualties or material damage due to the earthquakes have been received.
