تكتسب حملة «QuitGPT» زخماً متزايداً في الولايات المتحدة وخارجها، حيث يدعو ناشطون ومستخدمون إلى إلغاء الاشتراكات المدفوعة في برنامج الدردشة الآلي ChatGPT التابع لشركة OpenAI، احتجاجاً على ما يصفونه بـ«تورط الشركة في دعم سياسي مثير للجدل واستخدام تقنياتها في أغراض أمنية حساسة».
بدأت الحملة، التي أطلق عليها اسم «QuitGPT»، كرد فعل على الكشف عن تبرعات ضخمة من مسؤولين تنفيذيين في OpenAI إلى لجان عمل سياسي تدعم الرئيس الأمريكي دونالد ترمب.
ووفقاً لتقارير مالية رسمية، تبرع رئيس OpenAI جريج بروكمان وزوجته بمبلغ 25 مليون دولار للجنة دعم ترمب، كما ساهم الرئيس التنفيذي سام ألتمان بمليون دولار في صندوق تنصيب ترمب عام 2025، حيث يصف منظمو الحملة هذه التبرعات بأنها «26 ضعفاً» مما قدمته شركات الذكاء الاصطناعي الأخرى.
كما أثار غضب المشاركين في الحملة استخدام إدارة الهجرة والجمارك الأمريكية لتقنية ChatGPT في فحص السير الذاتية للمتقدمين للوظائف في عمليات الترحيل، وفقاً لقاعدة بيانات وزارة الأمن الداخلي الأمريكية.
ويتهم الناشطون الشركة بـ«تمكين سياسات ترحيل قاسية»، خصوصاً بعد حوادث أمنية مرتبطة بـICE في الفترة الأخيرة.
وتصاعدت الحملة بشكل كبير بعد إعلان OpenAI في 27-28 فبراير عن اتفاق مع وزارة الدفاع الأمريكية (البنتاجون) يسمح بنشر نماذجها داخل شبكات حكومية سرية، مع ضمانات أخلاقية مثل حظر المراقبة الجماعية الداخلية والأسلحة المستقلة تماماً.
وجاء الاتفاق بعد رفض الشركة المنافسة Anthropic مطور Claude تقديم نفس الشروط دون قيود صارمة، مما دفع الإدارة الأمريكية إلى حظر استخدام تقنيات Anthropic في الوكالات الحكومية، حيث يصف منتقدو OpenAI الاتفاق بأنه «تجاهل للأخلاقيات»، رغم تأكيد سام ألتمان وجود «خطوط حمراء» مشابهة.
ووفقاً لموقع الحملة quitgpt.org، شارك أكثر من 1.5 مليون شخص حتى الآن إما بإلغاء اشتراكات أو مشاركة الرسائل على وسائل التواصل، مع دعم من شخصيات بارزة مثل الممثل مارك روفالو الذي نشر: «رئيس ChatGPT أكبر مانح لترمب.. تقنيتهم تمكن ICE.. حان وقت المقاطعة».
وينتشر الاتجاه على Reddit وInstagram، حيث يخطط بعض المستخدمين لـ«حفل إلغاء جماعي» في سان فرانسيسكو.
وتدعو الحملة المستخدمين إلى التحول إلى بدائل مثل Claude من Anthropic أو نماذج أخرى، معتبرة أن «جعل OpenAI مثالاً» سيرسل رسالة قوية إلى شركات التقنية ضد «التواطؤ مع السلطات الاستبدادية».
The "QuitGPT" campaign is gaining increasing momentum in the United States and beyond, as activists and users call for the cancellation of paid subscriptions to OpenAI's ChatGPT chatbot, in protest against what they describe as "the company's involvement in supporting controversial political agendas and using its technologies for sensitive security purposes."
The campaign, dubbed "QuitGPT," began as a reaction to revelations of substantial donations from OpenAI executives to political action committees supporting U.S. President Donald Trump.
According to official financial reports, OpenAI's President Greg Brockman and his wife donated $25 million to the Trump support committee, while CEO Sam Altman contributed $1 million to the Trump inauguration fund for 2025, with campaign organizers describing these donations as "26 times" what other AI companies have provided.
The campaign participants were also outraged by the use of ChatGPT technology by U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) to screen job applicants' resumes in deportation processes, according to the U.S. Department of Homeland Security database.
Activists accuse the company of "enabling harsh deportation policies," especially following recent security incidents linked to ICE.
The campaign has significantly escalated following OpenAI's announcement on February 27-28 of an agreement with the U.S. Department of Defense (the Pentagon) that allows the deployment of its models within classified government networks, with ethical guarantees such as a ban on domestic mass surveillance and fully autonomous weapons.
The agreement came after competitor Anthropic, the developer of Claude, refused to offer the same terms without strict limitations, prompting the U.S. administration to ban the use of Anthropic's technologies in government agencies, with critics of OpenAI describing the agreement as "a disregard for ethics," despite Sam Altman asserting that there are similar "red lines."
According to the campaign's website quitgpt.org, over 1.5 million people have participated so far by either canceling subscriptions or sharing messages on social media, with support from prominent figures like actor Mark Ruffalo, who posted: "The head of ChatGPT is the biggest donor to Trump... their technology enables ICE... it's time to boycott."
The trend is spreading on Reddit and Instagram, where some users are planning a "mass cancellation party" in San Francisco.
The campaign encourages users to switch to alternatives like Claude from Anthropic or other models, believing that "making OpenAI an example" will send a strong message to tech companies against "colluding with authoritarian authorities."
