لقي ثمانية أشخاص مصرعهم وأصيب اثنان آخران بجروح طفيفة إثر انفجار عنيف داخل متجر لبيع الألعاب النارية في مقاطعة جيانغسو شرقي الصين، وفق ما أعلنته السلطات في بيان رسمي.
وأوضحت الجهات المعنية أن «سوء استخدام» الألعاب النارية من قبل شخص أو أكثر أدى إلى اندلاع الانفجار داخل متجر قريب، ما تسبب في خسائر بشرية وأضرار مادية.
وتمكنت فرق الإطفاء من السيطرة على الحريق الناجم عن الانفجار بحلول الساعة 16:00 (08:00 بتوقيت غرينتش)، بينما باشرت السلطات تحقيقًا رسميًا لكشف ملابسات الحادثة وتحديد المسؤوليات.
وتأتي الحادثة في وقت تشهد فيه المناطق الريفية الصينية استخدامًا مكثفًا للألعاب النارية، لا سيما مع اقتراب احتفالات رأس السنة القمرية، حيث تُعد هذه الألعاب جزءًا من الطقوس التقليدية للاحتفال بالمناسبات والأعياد.
وتم فتح التحقيق في الحادثة، كما أوقِف المسؤولون عنها. وتتكرر الحوادث الصناعية في البلاد بسبب التراخي أحيانًا في تطبيق معايير السلامة.
Eight people have died and two others were injured lightly following a violent explosion inside a fireworks store in Jiangsu Province, eastern China, according to a statement from the authorities.
The relevant authorities clarified that "misuse" of fireworks by one or more individuals led to the explosion inside a nearby store, resulting in human casualties and material damage.
Firefighting teams managed to control the fire caused by the explosion by 16:00 (08:00 GMT), while the authorities initiated an official investigation to uncover the circumstances of the incident and determine responsibilities.
The incident comes at a time when rural areas in China are experiencing intensive use of fireworks, especially with the Lunar New Year celebrations approaching, as these fireworks are considered part of the traditional rituals for celebrating occasions and holidays.
An investigation into the incident has been opened, and those responsible have been suspended. Industrial accidents occur frequently in the country due to occasional lax enforcement of safety standards.
