لقي ما لا يقل عن 15 شخصاً مصرعهم، ولا يزال 6 آخرون في عداد المفقودين، بعد غرق عبّارة ركاب في نهر النيل بولاية نهر النيل شمال السودان، وفق ما أفادت به «شبكة أطباء السودان» الطبية.
وكانت العبّارة وهي وسيلة نقل نهري شائعة في المناطق النائية تقل على الأقل 27 شخصاً، بينهم نساء وأطفال، عندما غرقت لأسباب لم تتضح تفاصيلها بعد بشكل كامل.
وأكدت الشبكة الطبية أن فرق الإنقاذ والسكان المحليين تمكنوا من انتشال 15 جثة حتى الآن، فيما نجا 6 أشخاص فقط من الحادث.
وأشارت التقارير الأولية إلى أن العبّارة كانت في طريقها بين منطقتين على ضفتي النيل، وهي رحلة يومية اعتيادية يعتمد عليها السكان في التنقل بسبب ضعف البنية التحتية للطرق في المنطقة.
وتُعد حوادث غرق العبارات والمركبات النهرية من الحوادث المتكررة في السودان، خصوصاً في المناطق الريفية والشمالية التي تعتمد بشكل كبير على نهر النيل كوسيلة نقل رئيسية.
عوامل متعددة وحوادث متكررة
وترجع معظم هذه الحوادث إلى عوامل متعددة، منها التحميل الزائد للمركبات النهرية، وقدم وسائل النقل وعدم صيانتها بشكل منتظم، وسوء الأحوال الجوية أو التيارات المائية القوية، وغياب معايير السلامة والإنقاذ الفعالة، نقص الطرق البرية المعبدة، ما يدفع السكان للاعتماد على النقل النهري.
ومنذ اندلاع الحرب في السودان في أبريل 2023 بين الجيش السوداني وقوات الدعم السريع، تفاقمت هذه المشكلة بشكل كبير نتيجة تدهور البنية التحتية عموماً، وصعوبة وصول فرق الإنقاذ والطوارئ إلى المناطق الريفية، ونقص التمويل والمعدات اللازمة لصيانة المركبات النهرية.
وتكررت خلال السنوات الأخيرة حوادث مشابهة أودت بحياة العشرات، ما يجعل هذا الحادث جزءاً من سلسلة مأساوية تكشف عن هشاشة وسائل النقل، وغياب الاستثمار في السلامة، في ظل الظروف الاستثنائية التي تمر بها البلاد.
At least 15 people have died, and 6 others are still missing, after a passenger ferry sank in the Nile River in the Nile River State in northern Sudan, according to the "Sudan Doctors Network."
The ferry, a common means of river transport in remote areas, was carrying at least 27 people, including women and children, when it sank for reasons that are not yet fully clear.
The medical network confirmed that rescue teams and local residents have managed to recover 15 bodies so far, while only 6 people survived the incident.
Initial reports indicated that the ferry was on its way between two areas on the banks of the Nile, a routine daily trip relied upon by residents due to the poor road infrastructure in the region.
Ferry and river vehicle sinking incidents are recurring in Sudan, especially in rural and northern areas that heavily depend on the Nile River as a primary means of transport.
Multiple Factors and Recurring Incidents
Most of these incidents are attributed to multiple factors, including overloading of river vehicles, the age of transport means and lack of regular maintenance, adverse weather conditions or strong water currents, absence of effective safety and rescue standards, and a lack of paved roadways, which drives residents to rely on river transport.
Since the outbreak of war in Sudan in April 2023 between the Sudanese army and the Rapid Support Forces, this problem has significantly worsened due to the overall deterioration of infrastructure, difficulty in accessing rescue and emergency teams to rural areas, and a lack of funding and equipment necessary for maintaining river vehicles.
In recent years, similar incidents have recurred, claiming the lives of dozens, making this incident part of a tragic series that reveals the fragility of transport means and the lack of investment in safety, amid the exceptional circumstances the country is experiencing.
