كشفت السلطات الأمريكية تفاصيل مرعبة في قضية جنائية غير مسبوقة، بعد العثور على أكثر من 100 جمجمة بشرية، إلى جانب عظام طويلة، وأقدام متحجرة، وجثث في مراحل مختلفة من التحلل، داخل منزل شاب بولاية بنسلفانيا، في واقعة بدت وكأنها مشهد مستخرج من فيلم رعب حقيقي.
وبحسب ما أعلنته الشرطة الأمريكية، تم توقيف جوناثان جيرلاش (34 عاماً)، أثناء مغادرته مقبرة ماونت مورياه التاريخية، الممتدة بين فيلادلفيا وبلدة ييدون، وذلك بعد مراقبته لفترة عقب تلقي بلاغات متكررة من أعضاء منظمة غير ربحية معنية بحماية المقبرة، لاحظت تعرض عدد من القبور للتدنيس والنبش.
وأفادت التحقيقات، أن المشتبه به كان موضع متابعة دقيقة، قبل أن تقود الأدلة الشرطة إلى تفتيش منزله، إذ اكتشف المحققون في قبو المنزل مشهداً، وصفته التقارير الأمنية بأنه «أقرب إلى أفلام الرعب»، إذ عُثر على جماجم وعظام بشرية محفوظة بطرق مختلفة، إضافة إلى بقايا جثث متحللة. ولم تتوقف الاكتشافات عند ذلك الحد، إذ كشفت عمليات التفتيش عن 8 مجموعات إضافية من البقايا البشرية مخزنة في مستودع شخصي تابع للمتهم، ما وسّع نطاق التحقيقات، وفتح تساؤلات خطيرة حول دوافعه النفسية، وحجم الانتهاكات التي ارتكبها بحق حرمة الموتى.
وأكدت الشرطة، أن التحقيقات لا تزال جارية لتحديد مصدر جميع البقايا، وعدد القبور التي تعرضت للانتهاك، وسط مطالبات قانونية وتشريعية بتشديد العقوبات على جرائم تدنيس المقابر والاتجار غير المشروع بالبقايا البشرية.
The American authorities revealed terrifying details in an unprecedented criminal case, after discovering more than 100 human skulls, along with long bones, petrified feet, and bodies in various stages of decomposition, inside a young man's home in Pennsylvania, in an incident that seemed like a scene extracted from a real horror movie.
According to what the American police announced, Jonathan Gerlach (34 years old) was arrested while leaving the historic Mount Moriah Cemetery, which stretches between Philadelphia and the town of Yeadon, after being monitored for a period following repeated reports from members of a non-profit organization concerned with protecting the cemetery, who noticed that several graves had been desecrated and dug up.
Investigations indicated that the suspect was under close surveillance before evidence led the police to search his home, where investigators discovered a scene in the basement of the house, which security reports described as "closer to horror films," as human skulls and bones were found preserved in various ways, in addition to remains of decomposed bodies. The discoveries did not stop there, as the searches revealed 8 additional groups of human remains stored in a personal storage unit belonging to the accused, which expanded the scope of the investigations and raised serious questions about his psychological motives and the extent of the violations he committed against the sanctity of the dead.
The police confirmed that investigations are still ongoing to determine the source of all the remains and the number of graves that were violated, amidst legal and legislative calls to tighten penalties for crimes of desecrating graves and illegal trafficking of human remains.
