تحول يوم هادئ على شاطئ مورديالوك في جنوب شرق ملبورن إلى مشهد فوضوي دراماتيكي، عندما اقتحم أكثر من 200 مراهق متجر سوبر ماركت «وولورث»، مما أدى إلى دمار واسع وإغلاق طارئ، قبل أن ينتقل الشغب إلى الشاطئ المجاور، حيث اندلعت اشتباكات عنيفة.

بدأت الواقعة نحو الساعة 3 مساءً يوم الأربعاء، عندما تجمع المراهقون -معظمهم بين 14 و17 عاماً- على الشاطئ، ثم اندفعوا نحو متجر «وولورث»، في الشارع الرئيسي، محدثين تلفيات كبيرة، وعمليات تدمير واسعة داخل المتجر الشهر.

وانتشرت فيديوهات على وسائل التواصل تظهر عشرات الشباب يركضون داخل المتجر، يسقطون الرفوف، يرمون المنتجات في الممرات، يسرقون بضائع، ويسيئون معاملة الموظفين والزبائن، حتى اضطر المتجر إلى الإغلاق الفوري للحماية والسلامة، ولم يصب أحد من الموظفين أو الزبائن.
وغادر الحشد المتجر وعاد إلى الشاطئ قرب رصيف مورديالوك، حيث تحول التجمع إلى مشاجرات عنيفة، مع رمي زجاجات وأجسام أخرى على الشرطة، وعلى الفور استجابت شرطة فيكتوريا، مدعومة بفرق مكافحة الشغب وأكثر من 20 سيارة، واستخدمت رذاذ الفلفل لتفريق الحشد المعادي.
واعتقل مراهق واحد بتهم الشغب واعتداء على الشرطة، وأطلق سراحه لاحقاً بانتظار التحقيق، إذ أكدت الشرطة عدم وقوع إصابات خطيرة أو استخدام أسلحة، لكنها وصفت الحادثة بـ«المروعة»، خصوصاً لعمال التجزئة.
ورجحت وسائل إعلام أسترالية أن يكون التجمع منظم عبر «تيك توك»، رغم الحظر الجديد على وسائل التواصل للقاصرين ولجميع من هم دون 16 عاماً في أستراليا.
وأعربت شركة «وولورث» عن شكرها لموظفيها على إدارة الأزمة، وجددت دعوتها لحماية أفضل لعمال التجزئة أمام الجرائم المتزايدة، ودعت الشرطة الآباء إلى الإبلاغ عن أي مشاركة لأبنائهم، محذرة من ملاحقة الجميع عبر الأدلة المصورة.
وطمأن متحدث باسم الشرطة الجمهور بأن شواطئ ملبورن مفتوحة، قائلاً: «شواطئنا آمنة جداً، نحن هنا لضمان سلامة الناس، وجعلهم يشعرون بالأمان أيضاً».
A quiet day at Mordialloc Beach in southeast Melbourne turned into a dramatic chaotic scene when over 200 teenagers stormed the Woolworths supermarket, causing widespread damage and an emergency closure, before the riot moved to the nearby beach, where violent clashes broke out.

The incident began around 3 PM on Wednesday, when the teenagers—most of whom were between 14 and 17 years old—gathered on the beach and then rushed towards the Woolworths store on the main street, causing significant damage and widespread destruction inside the supermarket.
Videos on Social Media
Videos circulated on social media showing dozens of youths running inside the store, knocking over shelves, throwing products in the aisles, stealing goods, and mistreating staff and customers, forcing the store to close immediately for safety and protection, with no injuries reported among staff or customers.
The crowd left the store and returned to the beach near Mordialloc Pier, where the gathering turned into violent brawls, with bottles and other objects thrown at the police. Victoria Police responded immediately, supported by riot teams and more than 20 vehicles, and used pepper spray to disperse the hostile crowd.
One teenager was arrested on charges of rioting and assaulting police, and was later released pending investigation. The police confirmed that there were no serious injuries or weapons used, but described the incident as "horrific," especially for retail workers.
Australian media speculated that the gathering was organized via TikTok, despite the new ban on social media for minors and anyone under 16 in Australia.
Woolworths expressed gratitude to its staff for managing the crisis and reiterated its call for better protection for retail workers against rising crime, urging parents to report any involvement of their children, warning that everyone could be tracked through video evidence.
A police spokesperson reassured the public that Melbourne's beaches are open, stating: "Our beaches are very safe; we are here to ensure people's safety and to make them feel secure as well."
