بعد أعوام من الصمت والغموض، فجرت وثائق قضائية مفاجأة مدوية، باعتراف أماندا ماي مايسون، الأمريكية التي ظلت تنكر التهمة لسنوات، أخيراً، بأنها أنهت حياة طفلها ماثيو ذي الأعوام الثلاثة، بعد إخضاعه لتعذيب مروع ومتواصل.
وأقرت مايسون، البالغة من العمر 33 عاماً، بأنها ضربت ابنها وحبسته لساعات، وشجعت حبيبها السابق موريس هول على الاعتداء عليه جنسياً، وساهمت في إخفاء تفاصيل وفاته عن السلطات، وفقاً لصحيفة «ميرور».
وكشف تشريح الجثة أن ماثيو توفي نتيجة إصابات ناجمة عن صدمة قوية وربما اختناق، فيما أظهرت التحقيقات أنه كان يتعرض للضرب والإهمال بشكل منهجي.
وأكد مكتب شرطة مقاطعة سانت كلير أن مايسون وهول تعمدا خلق بيئة إساءة متواصلة للطفل، كما شاركا في التخطيط لإخفاء ملابسات وفاته عن سلطات إنفاذ القانون.
وفي 5 نوفمبر الجاري، أقرت مايسون بالذنب في تهمة القتل من الدرجة الثانية، ووافقت على الإدلاء بشهادتها ضد موريس هول في محاكمته القادمة بتهمة القتل من الدرجة الأولى، المقررة في أوائل 2026.
وقد وصفت السلطات القضية بأنها من أكثر القضايا خطورة، مشيرة إلى معاناة الطفل الصغير على يد كلا المتهمين.

An autopsy revealed that Matthew died from injuries resulting from blunt force trauma and possibly asphyxiation, while investigations showed that he was systematically subjected to abuse and neglect.
The St. Clair County Sheriff's Office confirmed that Mason and Hall intentionally created a continuous environment of abuse for the child and participated in planning to conceal the circumstances of his death from law enforcement authorities.
On November 5, Mason pleaded guilty to second-degree murder and agreed to testify against Maurice Hall in his upcoming trial for first-degree murder, scheduled for early 2026.
Authorities described the case as one of the most serious, highlighting the suffering of the young child at the hands of both defendants.
