أكّدت دراسة نشرتها صحيفة Times of Malta أن قراءة القصص للأطفال لم تعد رفاهيةً بل ضرورة تنموية؛ فهي تُرسي الأساس اللغوي، وتساعد في بناء المهارات المعرفية، وتعزز الروابط العاطفية بين الطفل وبيئته. وتشير الدراسة إلى أن تعرّض الأطفال للقصص منذ الصغر يُسهم في تحسين القدرات اللغوية وتوسعة المفردات، كما يُحسّن الفهم القرائي لديهم لاحقاً.
كما ذكرت الدراسة أن القصص تُعزّز لدى الأطفال مهارات التركيز والتفكير، وتُقدّم فرصاً للتعبير عن المشاعر وفهم الذات، خصوصاً إنْ تم اختيار قصص مناسبة لسنهم. ومن الناحية العاطفية، يسهم هذا التفاعل في بناء الثقة بين الطفل ومَن يقرأ له، ويجعل القراءة نشاطاً يومياً وليس واجباً جامداً.

The study also mentioned that stories enhance children's concentration and thinking skills, providing opportunities for expressing emotions and understanding themselves, especially if age-appropriate stories are chosen. Emotionally, this interaction helps build trust between the child and the reader, making reading a daily activity rather than a rigid obligation.
