في حادثة مفاجئة أوقفت رحلة دبلوماسية رفيعة، اضطرت طائرة رئيس الوزراء الأسترالي أنتوني ألبانيزي، إلى الهبوط اضطراريًا في الولايات المتحدة، بعد أن تعرض أحد أفراد طاقم سلاح الجو الملكي الأسترالي لحالة طبية طارئة أثناء الطيران.
وكانت الطائرة في طريقها من واشنطن إلى أستراليا حين هبطت مساء أمس الثلاثاء (بالتوقيت المحلي) في مطار سانت لويس بولاية ميسوري.
وبحسب التقارير، أصيب العضو العسكري جرّاء سقوط جسم من خزانة فوقية داخل الطائرة، ويشتبه في إصابته بارتجاج. وقد نقل فوراً إلى مستشفى محلي في سانت لويس لتلقي الرعاية الطبية اللازمة.
وتجدر الإشارة إلى أن هذا الفرد ليس من الفريق الشخصي لرئيس الوزراء، بل من طاقم الدعم العسكري المرافق للرحلة.
وفي الوقت الحالي، تخضع الطائرة لإعادة التزود بالوقود تمهيداً لاستئناف رحلتها إلى أستراليا.
تأتي هذه الحادثة بعد زيارة رسمية قام بها ألبانيزي إلى الولايات المتحدة، التقى خلالها الرئيس الأمريكي دونالد ترمب في البيت الأبيض يوم الاثنين.
وقد استغرق التحضير لهذا اللقاء الثنائي نحو عشرة أشهر، وتمحورت المباحثات حول قضايا التجارة، واتفاقية «أوكوس» (AUKUS)، والمعادن الحيوية، فضلا عن احتمال قيام ترمب بزيارة أستراليا.
ووصف المسؤولون الزيارة بأنها ناجحة، إذ تم خلالها توقيع اتفاقية تعاون في مجال المعادن الحيوية، وأعلن ترمب دعمه الصريح لاتفاقية «أوكوس».
In a surprising incident that halted a high-level diplomatic trip, Australian Prime Minister Anthony Albanese's plane was forced to make an emergency landing in the United States after a member of the Royal Australian Air Force experienced a medical emergency during the flight.
The plane was en route from Washington to Australia when it landed last night (local time) at St. Louis Airport in Missouri.
According to reports, the military member was injured when an object fell from an overhead compartment inside the plane, and he is suspected of having a concussion. He was immediately transported to a local hospital in St. Louis for necessary medical care.
It is worth noting that this individual is not part of the Prime Minister's personal team but is from the military support crew accompanying the trip.
Currently, the plane is undergoing refueling in preparation for resuming its journey to Australia.
This incident comes after an official visit by Albanese to the United States, during which he met with U.S. President Donald Trump at the White House on Monday.
The preparation for this bilateral meeting took about ten months, and discussions centered around trade issues, the AUKUS agreement, critical minerals, as well as the possibility of Trump visiting Australia.
Officials described the visit as successful, as a cooperation agreement in the field of critical minerals was signed, and Trump expressed his explicit support for the AUKUS agreement.
