في واقعة غريبة وثّقتها الكاميرات، فوجئ نزلاء أحد الفنادق الفاخرة في شمال شرق أستراليا بوجود تمساح صغير داخل مسبح الفندق، على بعد أمتار فقط من روّاد المكان الذين كانوا يسترخون تحت أشعة الشمس!
الفيديو الذي انتشر كالنار في الهشيم عبر تيك توك، يُظهر التمساح مستلقيا بهدوء في قاع مسبح منتجع شيراتون غراند ميراج الواقع في مدينة بورت دوغلاس، وهو المنتجع الشهير بموقعه الفخم وسط الطبيعة الاستوائية.
وقد أكد مدير الفندق جوزيف أميريو أن الحادثة وقعت في وقت مبكر من صباح أمس (السبت)، حين تم رصد الزائر غير المتوقع من قبل موظفي الفندق، ليتم على الفور إخلاء المسبح كإجراء احترازي.
وأضاف أميريو أن النزلاء لم يكونوا داخل المسبح لحظة وجود التمساح، مؤكدا أن السلامة كانت أولوية قصوى، وأن التنسيق جرى مباشرة مع مسؤولي الحياة البرية في ولاية كوينزلاند، الذين حضروا لاحقا لسحب التمساح إلى موقع آمن.
وأوضحت وزارة البيئة الأسترالية أن حراس الحياة البرية قاموا بترحيل التمساح ووضع لافتات تحذيرية جديدة تنبّه بوجود تماسيح في المنطقة، وذلك لتفادي تكرار الحادثة في المستقبل.
وحتى الآن، لم يتم تحديد ما إذا كان التمساح ينتمي إلى نوع تماسيح المياه المالحة الشهيرة بعدوانيتها، أو تماسيح المياه العذبة الأقل شراسة، مع الإشارة إلى أن أكثر من 100 ألف تمساح من النوعين يعيشون في شمال أستراليا.
In a strange incident captured by cameras, guests at a luxury hotel in northeastern Australia were surprised to find a small crocodile in the hotel pool, just meters away from patrons relaxing under the sun!
The video that spread like wildfire on TikTok shows the crocodile calmly lying at the bottom of the pool at the Sheraton Grand Mirage Resort located in Port Douglas, a resort famous for its luxurious location amidst tropical nature.
Hotel manager Joseph Amirio confirmed that the incident occurred early yesterday morning (Saturday), when the unexpected visitor was spotted by hotel staff, prompting an immediate evacuation of the pool as a precautionary measure.
Amirio added that guests were not in the pool at the time the crocodile was present, emphasizing that safety was the top priority, and coordination was made directly with wildlife officials in Queensland, who later arrived to remove the crocodile to a safe location.
The Australian Department of Environment explained that wildlife officers relocated the crocodile and put up new warning signs alerting to the presence of crocodiles in the area, in order to prevent a recurrence of the incident in the future.
So far, it has not been determined whether the crocodile belongs to the notorious aggressive saltwater crocodile species or the less aggressive freshwater crocodiles, noting that over 100,000 crocodiles of both types live in northern Australia.
