أعلنت إدارة الطيران الفيدرالي الأمريكية وقفاً أرضياً وإخلاء بمطار هارتسفيلد جاكسون في أتلانتا بسبب رائحة غاز.
ودخلت المطارات الأمريكية في أزمة بسبب نقص الموظفين مع الإغلاق الفيدرالي الأمريكي ما أدى إلى تأخر آلاف الرحلات الجوية في الولايات المتحدة.
وفي ظل هذا النقص استمر مراقبو الحركة الجوية في العمل دون تقاضٍ للأجور بسبب الإغلاق الحكومي المستمر.
فيما أعلنت إدارة الطيران الفيدرالية مشكلات في التوظيف بعدد من المطارات، من بينها شيكاغو، ولاس فيغاس، وناشفيل، وفيلادلفيا، إلى جانب مراكز مراقبة جوية في مناطق أتلانتا، وبوسطن، ودالاس، وهيوستن.
وفي ولاية كاليفورنيا، شهد مطار هوليوود بيربانك إلغاءً وتأخيراً لعدد من الرحلات، في وقت أكدت فيه الإدارة أن برج المراقبة بالمطار لا يوجد فيه أي مراقبين جويين حالياً بسبب الإغلاق.
وكان وزير النقل الأمريكي شون دافي قد أعلن في مؤتمر صحفي بمطار نيوآرك بولاية نيوجيرسي أن عدد مراقبي الحركة الجوية الذين يتغيبون عن العمل بسبب المرض ارتفع منذ بدء الإغلاق.
تثير هذه التطورات مخاوف من تكرار ما حدث خلال إغلاق عام 2019، عندما أدى النقص الحاد في عدد العاملين إلى اضطرابات كبيرة في حركة الطيران دفعت الرئيس الأمريكي آنذاك دونالد ترمب إلى إنهاء الإغلاق بعد 35 يوماً.

U.S. airports have entered a crisis due to staff shortages amid the ongoing federal shutdown, leading to delays for thousands of flights across the United States.
In light of this shortage, air traffic controllers continued to work without pay due to the ongoing government shutdown.
The FAA reported employment issues at several airports, including Chicago, Las Vegas, Nashville, and Philadelphia, as well as air traffic control centers in the Atlanta, Boston, Dallas, and Houston areas.
In California, Hollywood Burbank Airport experienced cancellations and delays for several flights, while the FAA confirmed that there are currently no air traffic controllers at the airport's control tower due to the shutdown.
U.S. Transportation Secretary Sean Duffy announced at a press conference at Newark Airport in New Jersey that the number of air traffic controllers absent from work due to illness has increased since the shutdown began.
These developments raise concerns about a repeat of what happened during the 2019 shutdown, when a severe shortage of workers led to significant disruptions in air travel, prompting then-President Donald Trump to end the shutdown after 35 days.
