شهدت مدينة ساو جوزيه البرازيلية حادثة مأساوية، حيث عُثر على زوجين متوفيين داخل غرفة فندق، عقب احتفالهما بعيد ميلاد ابنتهما الرابع، حيث عثر على الجثتين داخل حوض استحمام ساخن.
ووفقاً لما نشرته وسائل إعلام برازيلية كان الزوجان جيفرسون لويز ساغاز (37 عاماً)، ضابط شرطة عسكرية في أكاديمية شرطة فلوريانوبوليس، وآنا كارولينا سيلفا (41 عاماً)، صاحبة صالون تجميل للأظافر قررا الخروج للسهر بعد الاحتفال بعيد ميلاد ابنتها، التي تركاها مع عمتها.
وبعد منتصف الليل بقليل، دخل جيفيرسون وآنا إلى فندق لقضاء الليلة، لكن عندما لم يعودا في اليوم التالي لاستلام ابنتهما، أبلغ أفراد العائلة السلطات، التي بدأت التحقيقات، لتعثر على جثتي الزوجين داخل غرفة الفندق.
وأكدت التحقيقات الأولية للشرطة المدنية في سانتا كاتارينا عدم وجود علامات عنف واضحة على الجثث، ولم يكن سلاح جيفرسون معه، مما أدى إلى التركيز على فرضية الوفاة العرضية.
وأغلقت الشرطة التحقيق مؤكدة أن السبب كان «تسمماً خارجياً» ناتجاً عن مزيج من الكحول والمخدرات (مثل الكوكايين)، مع درجة حرارة الماء في الحوض تصل إلى 50 درجة مئوية، بالإضافة إلى تشغيل مدفأة الغرفة على درجة حرارة عالية، مما أدى إلى الغثيان، الجفاف الشديد، الانهيار الحراري، فشل الأعضاء، وبالتالي الوفاة المفاجئة، في حين نفى أفراد عائلة آنا استخدامها للمخدرات، لكن التقارير الطبية الشرعية أكدت وجود مواد في الدم.
كان الزوجان معاً لمدة نحو 20 عاماً، ويُعرف جيفرسون بـ«المحبوب من الجميع» في صفوف الشرطة، بينما كانت آنا معروفة بـ«آنا مود» على وسائل التواصل، حيث أدارت صالونها منذ 2016 وأكدت في منشوراتها أهمية السلام الداخلي والعائلة.
يأتي هذا الحادث وسط مخاوف متزايدة في البرازيل من حوادث الوفيات الناتجة عن مزيج الكحول والمخدرات في أماكن الترفيه، خاصة في فلوريانوبوليس التي تشهد ازدهاراً سياحياً، حيث أدت حملات الشرطة إلى اعتقالات متعلقة بالمخدرات، لكن مثل هذه الحالات تبرز مخاطر الاستهلاك غير المنضبط.
وأوضحت الطبيبة الشرعية أندريسا بور فرونزا أن سبب الوفاة هو «تسمم خارجي، ساهم في حدوث ارتفاع حاد بدرجة حرارة الجسم مع جفاف شديد، أدى إلى فشل في الأعضاء والوفاة» واستبعدت التحقيقات 16 اختباراً جنائياً احتمال أسباب أخرى مثل الغرق أو التسمم بأول أكسيد الكربون أو وجود شبهة جنائية أو صدمة كهربائية.
The Brazilian city of São José witnessed a tragic incident, where a couple was found dead inside a hotel room, after celebrating their daughter’s fourth birthday. The bodies were discovered in a hot tub.
According to reports from Brazilian media, the couple, Jefferson Luiz Sagaz (37 years old), a military police officer at the Florianópolis Police Academy, and Ana Carolina Silva (41 years old), a nail salon owner, decided to go out for a night after celebrating their daughter’s birthday, leaving her with her aunt.
Shortly after midnight, Jefferson and Ana entered a hotel to spend the night, but when they did not return the next day to pick up their daughter, family members notified the authorities, who began investigations, leading to the discovery of the couple’s bodies inside the hotel room.
The initial investigations by the civil police in Santa Catarina confirmed that there were no obvious signs of violence on the bodies, and Jefferson's weapon was not with him, which led to a focus on the hypothesis of accidental death.
The police closed the investigation, confirming that the cause was “external poisoning” resulting from a mixture of alcohol and drugs (such as cocaine), with the water temperature in the tub reaching 50 degrees Celsius, in addition to the room heater being set to a high temperature, which led to nausea, severe dehydration, heat collapse, organ failure, and thus sudden death. While Ana's family denied her use of drugs, forensic medical reports confirmed the presence of substances in her blood.
The couple had been together for about 20 years, with Jefferson known as “the beloved by all” among the police, while Ana was known as “Ana Mod” on social media, where she had been running her salon since 2016 and emphasized the importance of inner peace and family in her posts.
This incident comes amid growing concerns in Brazil about deaths resulting from a mixture of alcohol and drugs in entertainment venues, especially in Florianópolis, which is experiencing a tourism boom, where police campaigns have led to drug-related arrests, but such cases highlight the risks of uncontrolled consumption.
Forensic doctor Andressa Bor Fronza explained that the cause of death was “external poisoning, contributing to a sharp rise in body temperature with severe dehydration, leading to organ failure and death,” and the investigation ruled out 16 forensic tests the possibility of other causes such as drowning, carbon monoxide poisoning, foul play, or electric shock.
