كيف بدأت الأزمة؟
أقدمت يوتيوب على تجميد قناة ترمب ومنعه من نشر أي محتوى جديد، بدعوى أن الفيديوهات قد تؤدي إلى مزيد من العنف، عقب أحداث الشغب التي شهدها مبنى الكابيتول.
وردًا على ذلك، رفع ترمب دعوى قضائية ضد الشركة في أكتوبر 2021، متهمًا إياها بـ«قمع حرية التعبير»، واستهدفت الدعوى أيضًا شركات تواصل اجتماعي أخرى.
تفاصيل المبلغ الضخم
بحسب وثائق المحكمة الفيدرالية في كاليفورنيا: فإن 22 مليون دولار ستذهب مباشرة لترمب. لكنه قرر التبرع بالمبلغ لصندوق ترميم ناشيونال مول وبناء قاعة احتفالات في البيت الأبيض.
وإضافة إلى تعويض ترمب، سيتم توزيع 2.5 مليون دولار على أطراف أخرى في القضية، من بينهم الكاتبة نعومي وولف والاتحاد المحافظ الأمريكي.
ماذا قال محامي ترمب؟
من جانبه، علق محامي ترمب، جون كويل على التسوية قائلًا: «لو لم يُنتخب مجددًا، كنا سنبقى في المحاكم سنوات. لكن مع عودته، تغيّر كل شيء».

ورغم ضخامة الحدث، رفضت يوتيوب التعليق رسميًا على التسوية حتى الآن.

How did the crisis begin?
YouTube froze Trump's channel and prevented him from posting any new content, claiming that the videos could lead to further violence, following the riots at the Capitol building.
In response, Trump filed a lawsuit against the company in October 2021, accusing it of "suppressing free speech," and the lawsuit also targeted other social media companies.
Details of the huge amount
According to federal court documents in California, $22 million will go directly to Trump. However, he decided to donate the amount to the National Mall Restoration Fund and to build a celebration hall at the White House.
In addition to Trump's compensation, $2.5 million will be distributed to other parties in the case, including writer Naomi Wolf and the American Conservative Union.
What did Trump's lawyer say?
For his part, Trump's lawyer, John Coale, commented on the settlement, saying: "If he hadn't been elected again, we would have been in the courts for years. But with his return, everything changed."
YouTube's silence
Despite the magnitude of the event, YouTube has refused to officially comment on the settlement so far.
