The city of El Fasher in Sudan is experiencing one of the worst humanitarian crises in the country, as hundreds of thousands of civilians are trapped amid the conflict between the Sudanese army and the Rapid Support Forces, spending their days exposed to death from hunger, disease, or bombing.

The Danger of Escape

Those who attempt to flee do not find safety either. Kidnappings, rapes, and torture are becoming frequent, making any attempt to leave the city fraught with danger.

Daily Suffering

Families are forced to eat animal feed to survive, while children are exploited in the search for food. Temporary shelters lack the most basic hygiene conditions, and rodents and insects are widespread.

Human Rights Warnings

For its part, human rights organizations have warned that the fall of El Fasher could lead to the largest massacre since the outbreak of the Sudanese civil war, amid a complete collapse of infrastructure and basic services.
