في مشهد أقرب إلى الأفلام الكوميدية، تبحث شرطة مقاطعة أورانج في ولاية فلوريدا الأمريكية عن رجل نفذ عملية سطو غريبة على مطعم Paddlefish الشهير داخل منتجع «ديزني سبرينغز».
ارتدى اللص بدلة غوص كاملة مع نظارات وقفازات، وقرر الاستغناء عن الأحذية مكتفياً بجوارب، قبل أن يقتحم المطعم بعد منتصف الليل.
وبحسب إفادات الموظفين، أمرهم اللص بالانبطاح على الأرض مطالباً بالأموال، من دون أن يُظهر أي سلاح، ليغادر بعدها بغنيمة تتراوح بين 10 و20 ألف دولار.
هروب عبر الماء
وبحسب «فايس»، أشارت التقارير الأمنية إلى أن المشتبه به قد يكون وصل إلى المطعم سباحة، وربما استخدم الطريقة نفسها للهروب. وأظهرت صور المراقبة شخصاً بزي غوص يشير بشيء غير محدد باتجاه الكاميرا، بينما لا تزال أجزاء من تقرير الشرطة محجوبة.
لا إصابات
رغم خطورة الموقف، لم يُصب أي من العاملين، فيما أكدت الشرطة أن المطعم كان مغلقاً لحظة وقوع الحادثة.
بدوره، رفض مدير المطعم التعليق، بينما تواصل السلطات جمع الأدلة ومراجعة لقطات المراقبة.
مسرح جريمة
افتتح مطعم Paddlefish عام 2017 على شكل قارب بخاري عصري عائم في بحيرة بوينا فيستا، ويشتهر بأطباق المأكولات البحرية مثل «هوت دوغ الكركند»، و«بطاطس السلطعون»، إضافة إلى بار على السطح يطل على المياه.
واليوم، صار أيضاً موقعاً لواحدة من أغرب عمليات السطو في تاريخ فلوريدا الحديث.
In a scene reminiscent of comedy films, the Orange County Sheriff's Office in Florida is searching for a man who executed a bizarre robbery at the famous Paddlefish restaurant inside the "Disney Springs" resort.
The thief wore a full wetsuit with goggles and gloves, opting to forgo shoes and only wearing socks before breaking into the restaurant after midnight.
According to employee testimonies, the thief ordered them to lie on the ground while demanding money, without displaying any weapon, and then left with a loot estimated between $10,000 and $20,000.
Escape via Water
According to "Vice," security reports indicated that the suspect may have swum to the restaurant and possibly used the same method to escape. Surveillance images showed a person in a wetsuit pointing something unspecified at the camera, while parts of the police report remain redacted.
No Injuries
Despite the seriousness of the situation, none of the staff were injured, while police confirmed that the restaurant was closed at the time of the incident.
For his part, the restaurant manager declined to comment, while authorities continue to gather evidence and review surveillance footage.
Crime Scene
The Paddlefish restaurant opened in 2017, designed to resemble a modern steamboat floating on Buena Vista Lake, and is known for seafood dishes such as "Lobster Hot Dog" and "Crab Fries," in addition to a rooftop bar overlooking the water.
Today, it has also become the site of one of the strangest robberies in modern Florida history.
