أعلنت شرطة العاصمة الأمريكية واشنطن أنّ مراهقَين يبلغان من العمر 17 عاماً وُجّهت إليهما تهمة القتل بعد تورطهما في حادثة إطلاق نار مروّع أودت بحياة المتدرب في الكونغرس الأمريكي إريك تارپينيان ياخيم خلال يونيو الماضي. فيما لا يزال مشتبه به ثالث فاراً من العدالة، بحسب صحيفة واشنطن بوست.
79 رصاصة وسط المدينة
وفقاً لسجلات المحكمة، كان المراهقون الثلاثة يستقلون سيارة «أكورا» مسروقة، بحثاً عن أفراد من عصابة منافسة. وعند وصولهم إلى تقاطع الشارع السابع وشارع M قرب مركز المؤتمرات، أطلقوا النار من بنادق نصف آلية على شابين يستقلان دراجة كهربائية مستأجرة. ودوّت أكثر من 79 طلقة في الشارع المكتظ.
توقيف وإدانة رسمية
أعلنت السلطات أنّ إطلاق النار لم يكن يستهدف المتدرب مباشرة، بل كان نتيجة صراع بين العصابات. ومع ذلك، تحوّلت الجريمة إلى قضية رأي عام بسبب هوية الضحية وعنف الحادثة. وأكدت رئيسة بلدية واشنطن مورييل باوزر في مؤتمر صحافي أنّ «المدينة لن تتسامح مع موجة العنف المسلح التي تهدد أرواح الأبرياء».

إريك الذي لم يتجاوز الـ20 من عمره، كان يؤدي فترة تدريب في الكونغرس الأمريكي ويطمح لمستقبل سياسي. وأثار مقتله موجة من الحزن بين زملائه وأعضاء الكونغرس، الذين نعوه باعتباره «شاباً واعداً فقد حياته في لحظة عبثية».

According to court records, the three teenagers were driving a stolen Acura, looking for members of a rival gang. Upon arriving at the intersection of Seventh Street and M Street near the convention center, they opened fire with semi-automatic rifles on two young men riding a rented electric bike. More than 79 shots rang out in the crowded street.
Arrest and Official Charges
Authorities announced that the shooting was not directly aimed at the intern but was the result of a gang conflict. However, the crime became a public issue due to the victim's identity and the violence of the incident. Washington Mayor Muriel Bowser confirmed at a press conference that "the city will not tolerate the wave of gun violence that threatens the lives of innocent people."
Teenagers Behind Bars
U.S. authorities have arrested the two accused and charged them with first-degree murder and possession of illegal firearms, while police continue to pursue the third suspect. The case highlights once again the crisis of gun violence among teenagers in the U.S. capital, which has led to an increase in crime rates this year.

Eric, who was not yet 20 years old, was interning in the U.S. Congress and aspired to a political future. His death sparked a wave of grief among his colleagues and members of Congress, who mourned him as "a promising young man who lost his life in a senseless moment."
