The French report recommended a complete ban on social networks before the age of 15, a proposal supported by the Élysée Palace, to send "a clear signal to children and parents that social networks are not trivial before this age" and to impose a "digital night" ban on the age group of 15-18 years to limit excessive use that exceeds two hours daily among more than half of minors.
The report sparked widespread debate, with Arthur Dela Porte, the committee chair, asserting that "TikTok" "has a financial interest in putting minors at risk," citing the platform's refusal to allow free visits to its moderation center in Ireland.
