شهدت أستراليا، اليوم الأحد، مظاهرات واسعة ضد الهجرة في مدن رئيسية مثل سيدني وملبورن وعواصم الولايات والمناطق الريفية، نظمتها مجموعة «مسيرات أستراليا».
وأثارت هذه المظاهرات جدلًا كبيرًا، حيث أدانتها الحكومة المركزية اليسارية بشدة، معتبرة إياها دعوة للكراهية ومرتبطة بتنظيمات نازية حديثة.

وأعربت المجموعة المنظمة عبر موقعها الإلكتروني عن استيائها من تأثير الهجرة الجماعية على المجتمع، مدعية أنها تسببت في تدهور الثقافة، الأجور، السكن، البنية التحتية، المستشفيات، وزيادة الجريمة وفقدان التماسك الاجتماعي.

وأكدت المجموعة في منشور على منصة «إكس» أن المظاهرات تهدف إلى المطالبة بوقف الهجرة الجماعية، وهو ما اعتبرته الحكومة تحركًا يناقض الانسجام الاجتماعي.
وفي سيدني، وصف ماري وات، وزير بارز في حكومة العمال، المظاهرة بأنها مروجة من جماعات نازية حديثة، مشيرًا إلى أنها تهدف إلى نشر الكراهية، ولم يصدر رد فوري من منظمي «مسيرات أستراليا» على هذه الاتهامات.

وتأتي هذه الاحتجاجات في ظل تصاعد التطرف اليميني في أستراليا، حيث يشكل المهاجرون أو أبناء المهاجرين نصف سكان البلاد، وتزامن ذلك مع تطبيق قوانين جديدة تحظر التحية النازية وعرض رموز إرهابية، رداً على هجمات معادية للسامية منذ بدء الحرب في غزة عام 2023.
في المقابل، نظم ائتلاف الدفاع عن اللاجئين مظاهرة مضادة في سيدني، حضرها مئات الأشخاص، معبرين عن رفضهم لأجندة اليمين المتطرف.
وأفادت تقارير بأن الشرطة نشرت مئات الضباط في سيدني لضمان الأمن دون تسجيل أحداث كبيرة/ وفي ملبورن، استخدمت الشرطة رذاذ الفلفل ضد متظاهرين، وفقًا لشبكة «إيه بي سي»، لكن شرطة فيكتوريا لم تؤكد ذلك.
وفي كوينزلاند، دعم بوب كاتر، زعيم حزب شعبوي، المظاهرة في تاونزفيل، بحضور مئات الأنصار، وفي سيدني عبر المتظاهر جلين أولشين عن قلقه من أزمات السكن والمستشفيات، مطالبًا بتقليص الهجرة.

In Sydney, Mary Watt, a senior minister in the Labor government, described the protest as promoted by modern Nazi groups, indicating that it aims to spread hatred, and there was no immediate response from the organizers of "Marches Australia" to these accusations.

These protests come amid a rise in right-wing extremism in Australia, where immigrants or children of immigrants make up half the country's population, coinciding with the implementation of new laws banning Nazi salutes and the display of terrorist symbols, in response to anti-Semitic attacks since the onset of the war in Gaza in 2023.
In contrast, a coalition defending refugees organized a counter-protest in Sydney, attended by hundreds of people expressing their rejection of the far-right agenda.
Reports indicated that police deployed hundreds of officers in Sydney to ensure security without any major incidents being recorded. In Melbourne, police used pepper spray against protesters, according to ABC News, but Victoria Police did not confirm this.
In Queensland, Bob Katter, a populist party leader, supported the protest in Townsville, attended by hundreds of supporters, while in Sydney, protester Glenn Olshin expressed his concerns about housing and hospital crises, calling for a reduction in immigration.
