أعلنت وزارة الداخلية الكويتية أمس (السبت) ضبط شبكة إجرامية متخصصة في تصنيع وترويج مادة الميثانول السامة التي تسببت في حالات وفاة لمجموعة من الأشخاص من الجالية الآسيوية أخيراً.
وذكرت «الداخلية» في بيان صحفي أن التحقيقات الميدانية التي نفذتها الإدارة العامة للمباحث الجنائية بالتنسيق مع الإدارة العامة لمكافحة المخدرات والإدارة العامة للأدلة الجنائية ووزارة الصحة، أسفرت عن ضبط متهم من جنسية آسيوية في منطقة السالمية متلبساً بحيازة كميات من مادة الميثانول، مبينة أن المتهم قام بتوضيح كيفية تجهيز المادة وبيعها.
وأفادت أن استكمال التحريات أسفر عن ضبط متهمين آخرين من جنسية آسيوية تبين تورطهما في تجهيز وتوزيع المادة، إضافة إلى تحديد وضبط المتهم الرئيسي المسؤول عن الشبكة الإجرامية وهو من جنسية آسيوية أيضاً.
وأشارت الى أن الحملات الأمنية المكثفة التي نفذتها الأجهزة في جميع محافظات الكويت أسفرت عن ضبط 67 متورطاً في تصنيع وترويج المواد الكحولية المحلية، إضافة إلى ضبط 6 مصانع مخصصة للتصنيع غير المشروع، و4 مصانع قيد التشغيل في المناطق السكنية والصناعية، علاوة على ضبط 34 شخصاً مطلوباً على ذمة قضايا مختلفة أثناء هذه الحملات.
وأوضحت «الداخلية» أن هذه المواد شديدة الخطورة على الصحة العامة، وقد تؤدي إلى الوفاة المباشرة.
The Kuwaiti Ministry of Interior announced yesterday (Saturday) the arrest of a criminal network specialized in the manufacture and promotion of the toxic substance methanol, which has caused fatalities among a group of individuals from the Asian community recently.
The "Interior" stated in a press release that the field investigations carried out by the General Department of Criminal Investigations in coordination with the General Department for Drug Control, the General Department of Forensic Evidence, and the Ministry of Health resulted in the arrest of a suspect of Asian nationality in the Salmiya area caught in possession of quantities of methanol, indicating that the suspect explained how to prepare and sell the substance.
It reported that the completion of the investigations led to the arrest of other suspects of Asian nationality found to be involved in the preparation and distribution of the substance, in addition to identifying and arresting the main suspect responsible for the criminal network, who is also of Asian nationality.
It pointed out that the intensive security campaigns carried out by the authorities in all governorates of Kuwait resulted in the arrest of 67 individuals involved in the manufacture and promotion of local alcoholic substances, in addition to the seizure of 6 factories dedicated to illegal manufacturing, and 4 factories operating in residential and industrial areas, as well as the arrest of 34 individuals wanted in connection with various cases during these campaigns.
The "Interior" clarified that these substances are extremely dangerous to public health and may lead to immediate death.
