أعلنت شرطة لاس فيغاس الحضرية عن اعتقال ثمانية أشخاص في عملية سرية استهدفت المشتبه بهم في استدراج قاصرين عبر الإنترنت لأغراض جنسية، من بين توم أرتيوم ألكساندروفيتش (38 عاما) رئيس إحدى الإدارات في وحدة الأمن السيبراني الوطنية الإسرائيلية.
ووفقا لشرطة لاس فيغاس تم القبض على المشتبه بهم خلال عملية استمرت أسبوعين، نفذتها قوة العمل المعنية بجرائم الإنترنت ضد الأطفال بالتعاون مع مكتب التحقيقات الفيدرالي، وشرطة هندرسون ونورث لاس فيغاس، وتحقيقات الأمن الداخلي، ومكتب المدعي العام في نيفادا.
ويواجه جميع المعتقلين تهما جنائية بمحاولة استدراج قاصر باستخدام الحاسوب لارتكاب أفعال جنسية، وهي تهمة قد تصل عقوبتها إلى السجن لمدة تراوح بين سنة وعشر سنوات بموجب قانون ولاية نيفادا، وتم حجز سبعة من المشتبه بهم في مركز احتجاز هندرسون، بينما تم حجز أحدهم في مركز احتجاز مقاطعة كلارك.

وأثارت هذه القضية جدلا بسبب التناقض بين تصريحات السلطات الأمريكية، التي أكدت الاعتقال، وبيان مكتب رئيس الوزراء الإسرائيلي الذي نفى الاعتقال، مدعيا أن ألكساندروفيتش «تم استجوابه فقط» في أمر لا يتعلق بعمله.
وتستمر التحقيقات في القضية، حيث لم تُصدر السلطات الأمريكية تفاصيل إضافية حول الادعاءات المحددة ضد ألكساندروفيتش أو المشتبه بهم الآخرين.
من جانبها، أعلنت وحدة الأمن السيبراني الإسرائيلية أن ألكساندروفيتش أُوقف عن العمل مؤقتا لحين توضيح القضية، مشيرة إلى أنها لم تتلقَّ بعد تفاصيل رسمية من السلطات الأمريكية.

The Las Vegas Metropolitan Police announced the arrest of eight individuals in a covert operation targeting suspects accused of soliciting minors online for sexual purposes, among them Tom Artyom Alexandrovich (38 years old), head of a department in the Israeli National Cyber Security Unit.
According to the Las Vegas Police, the suspects were apprehended during a two-week operation carried out by the task force focused on internet crimes against children, in collaboration with the FBI, Henderson Police, North Las Vegas Police, Homeland Security Investigations, and the Nevada Attorney General's Office.
All of the detainees face criminal charges of attempting to lure a minor using a computer to commit sexual acts, a charge that could result in a prison sentence ranging from one to ten years under Nevada state law. Seven of the suspects were held at the Henderson Detention Center, while one was held at the Clark County Detention Center.
Alexandrovich was in Las Vegas to attend the "Black Hat Briefings," a prominent annual event for cybersecurity professionals, representing the Israeli government. After being questioned, he was released on a $10,000 bail and returned to his hotel before leaving for Israel within two days.
This case has sparked controversy due to the discrepancy between statements from U.S. authorities, who confirmed the arrest, and a statement from the Israeli Prime Minister's Office, which denied the arrest, claiming that Alexandrovich was "only questioned" in a matter unrelated to his work.
Investigations into the case are ongoing, as U.S. authorities have not released additional details regarding the specific allegations against Alexandrovich or the other suspects.
For its part, the Israeli Cyber Security Unit announced that Alexandrovich has been temporarily suspended from work pending clarification of the case, noting that it has not yet received official details from U.S. authorities.
