GooGel تحذّر: عطّل «2G» على هاتفك فوراً

دعت شركة (غوغل) مستخدمي الهواتف الذكية، لا سيما أجهزة أندرويد، إلى تعطيل خاصية الاتصال بشبكات الجيل الثاني (2G) فوراً، نظراً لما تمثّله من مخاطر أمنية جسيمة. وأوضحت الشركة أن شبكات 2G تفتقر إلى تقنيات التشفير الحديثة، مما يجعلها بيئة خصبة لهجمات الاحتيال عبر الرسائل النصية، المعروفة بـ(Smishing). حيث يقوم المهاجمون باستخدام أجهزة محمولة تحاكي الأبراج الخلوية، لربط الهاتف بشبكة مزيفة ثم إرسال رسائل احتيالية باسم جهات رسمية. وقد رُصدت بالفعل، حالات في بريطانيا استخدمت فيها هذه الأجهزة لإرسال آلاف الرسائل الاحتيالية باسم مصلحة الضرائب HMRC. ويمكن لمستخدمي أندرويد تعطيل 2G عبر إعدادات الشبكة، بينما لا توفر أجهزة آيفون هذه الخاصية مباشرة، ولكنها تدعم وضع (Lockdown Mode) الذي يقلل احتمالات الاتصال بالشبكات الضعيفة. وتؤكد غوغل أن خيار تعطيل 2G متاح فقط في الأجهزة التي تعمل بنظام Android 12 فما فوق، وتدعم Radio HAL 1.6. يأتي هذا التحذير في إطار جهود متواصلة لرفع الوعي الأمني، والتصدي للهجمات الرقمية المتزايدة.
Google has urged smartphone users, particularly those with Android devices, to immediately disable the 2G network connectivity feature due to the significant security risks it poses. The company explained that 2G networks lack modern encryption technologies, making them a fertile ground for text message fraud attacks, known as Smishing. Attackers use mobile devices that mimic cellular towers to connect phones to a fake network and then send fraudulent messages in the name of official entities. Cases have already been reported in the UK where these devices were used to send thousands of fraudulent messages in the name of HMRC. Android users can disable 2G through their network settings, while iPhone devices do not provide this feature directly but support Lockdown Mode, which reduces the likelihood of connecting to weak networks. Google confirms that the option to disable 2G is only available on devices running Android 12 and above that support Radio HAL 1.6. This warning is part of ongoing efforts to raise security awareness and combat the increasing digital attacks.
