كشفت التحقيقات السيبرانية أن مجموعة هاكرز صينية، تُعرف باسم «Salt Typhoon»، نفّذت هجومًا سيبرانيًا ضخمًا استمر لسنوات، استهدف أكثر من 80 دولة، وربما سرق بيانات من كل تقريبًا أمريكي، وفق مسؤولين أمريكيين وبريطانيين.
وبحسب صحيفة نيويورك تايمز، فإن هذا الهجوم يُعد الأكبر من نوعه الذي تقوده الصين، حيث اخترقت المجموعة شبكات شركات الاتصالات الكبرى في أمريكا وأوروبا، وشركات الإنترنت، والبنية التحتية للقطاعين الحكومي والعسكري، بهدف تمكين الاستخبارات الصينية من تتبع اتصالات وتحركات شخصيات بارزة حول العالم، بما في ذلك سياسيون ونشطاء ومطلعون على معلومات حساسة.
ووصفت السلطات الأمريكية والبريطانية الهجوم بأنه «غير محدود»، و«عشوائي»، مشيرة إلى أن البيانات المسروقة تشمل ملفات حساسة وملكية فكرية، مثل تصميمات الرقائق الإلكترونية، مما يعكس مستوى عالٍ من القدرات التقنية والصبر الاستراتيجي للمهاجمين.
وبحسب التحقيق، ارتبطت الهجمة بثلاث شركات تقنية مقرها الصين تعمل لصالح الجيش والاستخبارات المدنية، وكانت تتيح للصينيين القدرة على مراقبة الهواتف، وقراءة الرسائل غير المشفرة، واستغلال ثغرات قديمة في الشبكات. كما استهدفت العملية حسابات الهواتف المستخدمة من قبل الرئيس ترمب ونائب الرئيس جي.دي. فانس خلال حملتهم الانتخابية، إلى جانب استهداف أعضاء الحزب الديمقراطي.
ويقول خبراء الأمن السيبراني إن الهجوم يمثل مرحلة جديدة من الطموحات الصينية للهيمنة الرقمية، ويبرز التحديات التي تواجهها الولايات المتحدة وحلفاؤها في حماية الشبكات العالمية من التجسس المنظم والدقيق.
وحتى الآن، لم يصدر أي تعليق رسمي من السفارة الصينية في لندن حول الهجوم.
Cyber investigations have revealed that a Chinese hacker group, known as "Salt Typhoon," has carried out a massive cyber attack that lasted for years, targeting over 80 countries and possibly stealing data from nearly every American, according to U.S. and British officials.
According to The New York Times, this attack is considered the largest of its kind led by China, as the group breached the networks of major telecommunications companies in America and Europe, internet companies, and the infrastructure of both the government and military sectors, aiming to enable Chinese intelligence to track the communications and movements of prominent figures around the world, including politicians, activists, and those privy to sensitive information.
U.S. and British authorities described the attack as "unlimited" and "random," noting that the stolen data includes sensitive files and intellectual property, such as designs for microchips, reflecting a high level of technical capability and strategic patience from the attackers.
According to the investigation, the attack was linked to three technology companies based in China that work for the military and civilian intelligence, allowing the Chinese to monitor phones, read unencrypted messages, and exploit old vulnerabilities in networks. The operation also targeted the phone accounts used by President Trump and Vice President J.D. Vance during their election campaign, alongside targeting members of the Democratic Party.
Cybersecurity experts say the attack represents a new phase of China's ambitions for digital dominance and highlights the challenges faced by the United States and its allies in protecting global networks from organized and precise espionage.
So far, there has been no official comment from the Chinese embassy in London regarding the attack.
