أكد رئيس الاتحاد الأردني لكرة القدم الأمير علي بن الحسين أن كرة القدم العالمية تواجه «أزمة قيادة واضحة» في ظل الجدل المتصاعد حول الاتحاد الدولي لكرة القدم (فيفا)، مطالباً باتخاذ خطوة عاجلة تتمثل في إلغاء نظام الاقتراع السري في انتخابات رئاسة الاتحاد الدولي القادمة.
وقال الأمير علي إن خبرته السابقة في خوض هذه العملية الانتخابية دفعته إلى المطالبة بضرورة اعتماد التصويت العلني، مشيراً إلى أن معظم القرارات المهمة في كرة القدم، بما فيها اختيار الدول المضيفة لكأس العالم، باتت تُتخذ عبر تصويت معلن، باستثناء انتخابات رئيس «فيفا».
وأوضح أن انتخاب رئيس الاتحاد الدولي كل 4 سنوات، إلى جانب وجود مجلس يتولى اتخاذ القرارات، يستوجب وجود آلية تصويت علنية تضمن مساءلة رؤساء الاتحادات الوطنية أمام جماهير كرة القدم والمسؤولين واللاعبين الذين يمثلونهم.
وأشار رئيس الاتحاد الأردني إلى أن التصويت العلني لا يعزز الشفافية فقط، بل يوفر أيضاً حماية للاتحادات الوطنية التي قد تواجه ضغوطاً أو محاولات تأثير لاتخاذ مواقف معينة خلف الأبواب المغلقة، لافتاً إلى أن مثل هذه الحالات حدثت في السابق.
وشدد الأمير علي على أن اعتماد التصويت العلني سيمنح الاتحادات الوطنية حرية أكبر في اتخاذ قرارها خلال أهم عملية انتخابية في كرة القدم العالمية، وهي اختيار قيادة «فيفا» وتحديد المسار المستقبلي للعبة الأكثر شعبية في العالم.
The President of the Jordanian Football Association, Prince Ali bin Al-Hussein, confirmed that global football is facing a "clear leadership crisis" amid the escalating controversy surrounding the International Football Federation (FIFA), calling for an urgent step to abolish the secret ballot system in the upcoming FIFA presidential elections.
Prince Ali stated that his previous experience in this electoral process has led him to advocate for the necessity of adopting public voting, pointing out that most important decisions in football, including the selection of host countries for the World Cup, are now made through public voting, with the exception of the FIFA presidential elections.
He explained that the election of the FIFA president every four years, along with the existence of a council that makes decisions, necessitates a public voting mechanism that ensures accountability of national federation presidents to football fans, officials, and the players they represent.
The President of the Jordanian Football Association noted that public voting not only enhances transparency but also provides protection for national federations that may face pressures or attempts to influence them to take certain positions behind closed doors, emphasizing that such cases have occurred in the past.
Prince Ali stressed that adopting public voting will grant national federations greater freedom in making their decisions during the most important electoral process in global football, which is the selection of FIFA leadership and determining the future direction of the world's most popular sport.
