تأهل منتخبنا الوطني السعودي للناشئين تحت 16 عاماً إلى المباراة النهائية لبطولة اتحاد غرب آسيا الثانية عشرة للناشئين التي تستضيفها مدينة العقبة بجنوب الأردن، بعد فوزه على البلد المستضيف منتخب الأردن بركلات الترجيح 4/ 3 بعد انتهاء الشوطين الأصليين بالتعادل بهدف لكل منهما، في اللقاء الذي جمع بينهما على ملعب العقبة ضمن نصف نهائي البطولة.
دخل الأخضر السعودي هذا اللقاء بعد تصدره منتخبات المجموعة الأولى، فيما تأهل منتخب الأردن كثاني المجموعة الثانية، وتمكن منتخبنا الوطني من فرض سيطرته على اللقاء منذ البداية، وتمكن من إحراز هدف مبكر عن طريق اللاعب علي عوض (د:12)، وفي اللحظات الأخيرة من عمر اللقاء استطاع منتخب الأردن إدراك التعادل مستغلاً غفوة دفاعية ليعود للقاء (د:88)، وفي ركلات الترجيح تألق الحارس عبدالله الماس ليفوز الأخضر السعودي بنتيجة 4/ 3 (1/ 1)، ويتأهل للنهائي ويضرب موعداً مع المنتخب اللبناني الذي انتصر على نظيره السوري بركلات الترجيح بنتيجة 5/ 4 (1/ 1).
الجدير بالذكر أن منتخبنا الوطني يشارك في البطولة بمنتخب 16 عاماً لوجود أخضر 17 في مونديال كأس العالم - قطر 2025.
Our Saudi national team for under 16s has qualified for the final match of the 12th West Asian Football Federation Championship for youth, hosted in the city of Aqaba in southern Jordan, after defeating the host country, the Jordanian team, in a penalty shootout 4/3 following a 1-1 draw at the end of the two original halves, in the match held at the Aqaba stadium as part of the tournament's semi-finals.
The Saudi Green entered this match after topping the first group, while the Jordanian team qualified as the second in the second group. Our national team managed to dominate the match from the beginning and scored an early goal through player Ali Awad (12th minute). In the final moments of the match, the Jordanian team managed to equalize, taking advantage of a defensive lapse to return to the match (88th minute). In the penalty shootout, goalkeeper Abdullah Al-Mas shone, leading the Saudi Green to victory with a score of 4/3 (1/1), qualifying for the final and setting up a meeting with the Lebanese team, which defeated its Syrian counterpart in a penalty shootout 5/4 (1/1).
It is worth mentioning that our national team is participating in the tournament with the under 16 team due to the under 17 team being in the World Cup - Qatar 2025.
