اختتمت في مدينة القدية بالعاصمة الرياض منافسات السباق الثاني والأخير من سباق «ديزرت إكس»، ضمن سلسلة سباقات «إكستريم إي» لسيارات الدفع الرباعي الكهربائية، التي ينظمها الاتحاد السعودي للسيارات والدراجات النارية، بإشراف وزارة الرياضة، ومن خلال الشراكة مع صندوق الاستثمارات العامة، ومدينة القدية.
وتوّج النرويجي أندرياس باكيرود، والبريطانية كايتي مَننغز، من فريق هانسن (Hansen)، بجائزة المركز الأول، فيما جاء السويدي كيفن هانسن، والأسترالية مولي تايلور، من فريق جميل موتور سبورت، في المركز الثاني، فيما حل فريق كريستوفرسون موتورسبورت (KMS) بقيادة السويدي يوهان كريستوفرسون، ومواطنته ميكايلا كوتولينسكي في المركز الثالث.
وشهد السباق التعويضي حماساً كبيراً ومنافسة قوية بين السائقين، حيث تمكن فريق جي بي إكس (JBX Powered by Team Monaco) الذي يضم كلاً من الفنلندي تومي هولمان والإسبانية كريستين جي زد من انتزاع الصدارة، تلاه فريق كارل كوكس موتورسبورت (Carl Cox Motorsport)، بقيادة الألماني تيمو شايدر، والسويدية كلارا أندرسون، في المركز الثاني، فيما حجز فريق ستراد (STRAD)، الذي يضم البريطاني باتريك أودونوفان، والأمريكية أماندا سورينسين المركز الثالث.
ويتسق احتضان المملكة لهذا الحدث للمرة الخامسة على التوالي مع الجهود المستمرة لترسيخ الحضور العالمي للسعودية، والتأكيد على كونها وجهةً رياضية رائدة، وموطناً للبطولات الكبرى من خلال استضافة الفعاليات المتميزة، والمساهمة بتحقيق المستهدفات الوطنية في رؤية السعودية 2030.
The second and final race of the "Desert X" competition, part of the "Extreme E" series for electric four-wheel drive vehicles, organized by the Saudi Automobile and Motorcycle Federation under the supervision of the Ministry of Sports, and in partnership with the Public Investment Fund and Qiddiya, concluded in the city of Qiddiya in the capital, Riyadh.
The Norwegian Andreas Bakkerud and the British Katie Munnings from Team Hansen were crowned the winners, while the Swedish Kevin Hansen and the Australian Molly Taylor from Jamil Motorsport took second place. The Christopherson Motorsport (KMS) team, led by the Swedish Johan Kristoffersson and his compatriot Mikaela Åhlin-Kottulinsky, finished in third place.
The compensatory race witnessed great enthusiasm and strong competition among the drivers, where the JBX Powered by Team Monaco team, consisting of the Finnish Tomi Holman and the Spanish Cristina GZ, managed to seize the lead, followed by the Carl Cox Motorsport team, led by the German Timo Scheider and the Swedish Clara Anderson, in second place. The STRAD team, which includes the British Patrick O'Donovan and the American Amanda Sorensen, secured third place.
The Kingdom's hosting of this event for the fifth consecutive time aligns with ongoing efforts to establish Saudi Arabia's global presence and affirm its status as a leading sports destination and home to major championships by hosting distinguished events and contributing to achieving national objectives in Saudi Vision 2030.
