تأهل الأخدود لدور الـ16 من كأس خادم الحرمين الشريفين، بعد فوزه على مضيفه الرائد بهدف دون مقابل، في اللقاء الذي أقيم على ملعب نادي الرائد ضمن لقاءات دور الـ32 من المسابقة.
شهد اللقاء سيطرة مبكرة لفريق الأخدود، ومن كرة عرضية عالية حاول دفاع الرائد إبعادها لتصل للاعب خالد ناري الذي سيطر على الكرة ولعبها في الزاوية الصعبة على الحارس صالح الوحيمد هدفاً للأخدود (د:5)، وحاول الرائد العودة للمباراة عن طريق عمر غونزاليس ولكن محاولاته باءت بالفشل، وكاد الأخدود يضاعف النتيجة بعد هجمة مرتدة مثالية لتصل للمهاجم بلاز كرامر الذي سدد كرة قوية مرت بجوار القائم، لينتهي اللقاء بفوز الأخدود بهدف دون مقابل.
وبهذه النتيجة يتأهل الأخدود لدور ثمن النهائي للمسابقة، فيما غادر الرائد المسابقة.

The Akhdood qualified for the Round of 16 of the King Abdulaziz Cup after defeating its host, Al-Raed, by a goal to nil in the match held at Al-Raed Club's stadium as part of the Round of 32 of the tournament.
The match witnessed an early dominance by the Akhdood team, and from a high cross, the Al-Raed defense attempted to clear it, allowing player Khalid Nari to control the ball and play it into the difficult corner against goalkeeper Saleh Al-Wuhaimid, scoring a goal for Akhdood (5th minute). Al-Raed tried to return to the match through Omar Gonzalez, but his attempts were unsuccessful. Akhdood nearly doubled the score after a perfect counterattack that reached striker Blaz Kramer, who shot a powerful ball that went just past the post, ending the match with Akhdood winning by a goal to nil.
