The Italian Gianluigi Donnarumma, the new goalkeeper for Manchester City, confirmed that he is extremely excited to help his new team write history and win more titles. This came during a video interview broadcast by the English club on its official website.
Regarding his new step, the 26-year-old goalkeeper said he feels a great motivation and inspiration to help the team succeed in its ongoing quest for titles: “I am very happy and excited to be here at one of the best clubs in the world. This is a club with a great history and a hunger for victories.”
He added: “I know there is a great responsibility, but I am proud to be part of this project to continue winning together. Milan and Paris Saint-Germain helped me a lot in my development, and I have achieved a lot during my career, and I will always be grateful to them.”
He continued: “But now my full focus is here with City to make history and become a symbol of the club and the city. The most important thing for me is to make the fans proud and for us to achieve many titles together, as this is a historic club that deserves to always be at the top.”
Donnarumma also explained in his talk to City Studios – his first major interview since his transfer – that he had been closely following City during his career in Europe, and that what he saw from the Etihad Stadium and the world-class training facilities at CFA increased his excitement for the upcoming challenges. “The club has always impressed me.”
He revealed: “I have always followed City with great passion. The training center and the stadium are amazing, and everything here is fantastic. You cannot realize the value of the club until you see it with your own eyes; the buildings, the staff, the atmosphere... everything is wonderful.”
The Italian goalkeeper concluded his talk by saying: “I came here with my family on my first day, and I felt from the very first moment that the club is like a real family. Everyone is smiling, and I am proud and happy, and I can't wait to start this new adventure.”
