The Al-Hilal team triumphed over its guest and neighbor Al-Riyadh with a score of two goals to none in the match held at the Kingdom Arena as part of the first round of the Roshen Saudi Professional League.
The match witnessed early dominance from Al-Hilal, and the new Uruguayan striker Darwin Nunez managed to find the net for Al-Riyadh, but referee Majid Al-Shammari disallowed the goal after reviewing the video technology due to a foul by Al-Hilal player Savic before the goal. The pressure from Al-Hilal continued, and from a clever pass by Salem Al-Dosari, Muteb Al-Harbi penetrated the 18-yard area and struck a powerful shot that found the back of the net as Al-Hilal's first goal (22'). Al-Hilal nearly doubled the score after a perfect counterattack, with Malcolm carrying the ball and passing it to his teammate Salem Al-Dosari, who refused to shoot and returned it to Malcolm, who in turn passed it back to Al-Dosari, only for the latter to shoot into the side netting. Just before the end of the first half, Malcolm managed to double the score for his team Al-Hilal after he bypassed the Al-Riyadh defense and fired a powerful shot into the goal as Al-Hilal's second goal (45+3'). In the second half, Al-Riyadh almost reduced the deficit, but the defense stood firm against Tuwazi's shot, and then goalkeeper Yassine Bounou saved a high ball before it reached the Al-Riyadh attackers, ending the match with Al-Hilal winning by two goals.
With this result, Al-Hilal earns its first three points and will play its next match at home against Al-Qadisiyah, while Al-Riyadh suffers its first loss and remains without points, set to host its counterpart Al-Najma in the next round.
