The decisions of the Appeals Committee in the Saudi Football Federation regarding Al-Hilal's withdrawal from the 2025 Super Cup have shuffled the cards for the participating teams in the current edition and the capital's blue team. Al-Hilal is now threatened with being banned from participating in the King Salman Cup for the 2026 season, after the Appeals Committee's decisions placed them under pressure to secure one of the qualifying spots for the Saudi Super Cup next season to avoid being barred from participating in the King's Cup.
Meanwhile, Al-Qadisiyah is planning to contest the legality of Al-Ahli's participation after considering them qualified for the final due to Al-Hilal's withdrawal resulting in a 3-0 loss.
This came after the penalties imposed by the Appeals Committee stipulated the cancellation of the previous decision by the Disciplinary Committee and the confirmation of the ban on Al-Hilal in the first knockout tournament next season, which is the Super Cup that the team will not participate in either due to the penalty or if they fail to secure a qualifying position, putting Al-Hilal at risk of transferring the penalty to the first tournament they are eligible to participate in under the knockout system, which is the King’s Cup 2026, thus placing the blue team under the threat of being deprived of the most prestigious tournaments next season.
The Appeals Committee had officially announced the cancellation of the Disciplinary and Ethics Committee's decision against Al-Hilal, while reaffirming the violation of the first football team and considering them to have lost to Al-Qadisiyah with a score of (3-0) in the Saudi Super Cup 2025. The penalties also included depriving Al-Hilal of any financial amounts allocated for the level of the game and confiscating the appeal fees, confirming that the decision is still subject to appeal according to the regulations and laws.
In a related context, the decisions of the Appeals Committee surprised the championship's calculations after reopening the door for Al-Qadisiyah to contest Al-Ahli's participation and their right to be a party in the Super Cup final, as they had lost to Al-Ahli by 5 goals after the latter participated as a substitute for Al-Hilal by a decision from the Competitions Committee. This raises controversy about the fate of the final between Al-Nassr and Al-Ahli and the possibility of accepting Al-Qadisiyah's protest regarding their right to reach the final match, and if either of them wins the title and the protest is accepted, what will be the fate of the title?
