حقق المنتخب السعودي للتايكوندو إنجازا غير مسبوق، بحصده أربع ميداليات برونزية في بطولتي آسيا السادسة للناشئين، والثالثة عشرة للشباب، التي اختتمت اليوم بمدينة كوتشنغ الماليزية وسط مشاركة أكثر من 650 لاعبا ولاعبة يمثلون مختلف دول القارة الآسيوية.
وجاءت ميداليات الناشئين عن طريق: علي البوحمود (وزن -61 كجم)، وأميرة البشر (وزن -51 كجم)، وليان كعبي (وزن -55 كجم)، بينما جاءت ميدالية الشباب عبر اللاعب خالد الشهراني (وزن -45 كجم).
من جانبه، عبّر رئيس الاتحاد السعودي للتايكوندو أحمد الصبان عن سعادته بهذا التفوق القاري، مؤكدًا أنه يُعد سابقة تاريخية تُسجل لأول مرة بتحقيق أربع ميداليات في بطولة واحدة لفئتين، وقال: «نهدي الإنجاز للقيادة الرشيدة، ولوزير الرياضة رئيس اللجنة الأولمبية والبارالمبية السعودية الأمير عبدالعزيز بن تركي بن فيصل، ونائبه الأمير فهد بن جلوي، على دعمهما للرياضة والرياضيين، وهذا ما ينعكس اليوم على المنجزات المتتالية للاتحادات الوطنية».
وأضاف الصبان: «كنا قريبين من الذهب، لكن ما تحقق يؤكد أننا نسير في الطريق الصحيح نحو صناعة جيل سعودي قادر على المنافسة قارّيًا وعالميًا، بفضل التخطيط الفني السليم، ومنح الفرص لمن يستحق من المدربين واللاعبين، وهو ما انعكس إيجابًا على هذا الظهور المميز».

The Saudi Taekwondo team achieved an unprecedented accomplishment by winning four bronze medals at the 6th Asian Junior Championships and the 13th Asian Youth Championships, which concluded today in Kuching, Malaysia, with the participation of more than 650 male and female athletes representing various countries across the Asian continent.
The junior medals were won by: Ali Al-Bohamood (weight -61 kg), Ameera Al-Bashar (weight -51 kg), and Layan Kaabi (weight -55 kg), while the youth medal was secured by player Khalid Al-Shahrani (weight -45 kg).
For his part, the President of the Saudi Taekwondo Federation, Ahmed Al-Sabban, expressed his happiness with this continental success, confirming that it marks a historical precedent as it is the first time to achieve four medals in a single championship for two categories. He said: "We dedicate this achievement to the wise leadership, to the Minister of Sports and President of the Saudi Olympic and Paralympic Committee, Prince Abdulaziz bin Turki bin Faisal, and to his deputy, Prince Fahd bin Jiluwi, for their support of sports and athletes, which is reflected today in the successive achievements of national federations."
Al-Sabban added: "We were close to gold, but what has been achieved confirms that we are on the right path towards creating a Saudi generation capable of competing at the continental and global levels, thanks to sound technical planning and providing opportunities to deserving coaches and athletes, which has positively reflected on this remarkable appearance."
