تأهل فريقا باريس سان جيرمان الفرنسي وبوتافوجو البرازيلي إلى دور الـ16 من بطولة كأس العالم للأندية لكرة القدم، بعد تصدرهما ترتيب المجموعة الثانية مع ختام منافسات الجولة الثالثة، فيما ودع البطولة كل من أتلتيكو مدريد الإسباني وسياتل ساوندرز الأمريكي.
وأقيمت المباراتان في توقيت واحد، حيث نجح باريس سان جيرمان في الفوز على سياتل ساوندرز (2 - 0)، في اللقاء الذي جمعهما على ملعب «لومين فيلد».
وفي المباراة الثانية، حقق أتلتيكو مدريد فوزًا صعبًا على بوتافوجو بهدف نظيف.
وبنهاية الجولة، تساوت 3 فرق في النقاط برصيد 6 نقاط لكل من باريس سان جيرمان، وبوتافوجو، وأتلتيكو مدريد، لكن فارق الأهداف منح الصدارة للفريق الفرنسي، يليه بوتافوجو ثانيًا، بينما جاء أتلتيكو مدريد ثالثًا وودّع البطولة إلى جانب سياتل ساوندرز الذي بقي دون نقاط.
