برونو: الهلال طلبني بثلاثة أضعاف راتبي.. ورفضت
Manchester United midfielder Bruno Fernandes revealed that Al-Hilal president Fahd bin Nafel offered him a contract to play for Al-Hilal with a weekly salary of £700,000 (about three times his current salary at Manchester United) before the start of the 2025 FIFA Club World Cup. This was during the press conference for Portugal's match against Germany in the UEFA Nations League semi-finals, where Fernandes confirmed that there were serious negotiations with Al-Hilal, saying: “Yes, there was a real opportunity. The president of Al-Hilal contacted me and asked if I wanted to move to them, and they were waiting for me,” according to a report broadcast by RT.
The player explained that the decision was not easy, pointing to the role of his coach in influencing him: “I spoke with Ruben Amorim, and he asked me not to leave Manchester United. He didn’t want to sell my contract, and he didn’t need the money. If I wanted to leave, I could have.”
Fernandes added: “The officials at Al-Hilal dealt with professionalism and respect, and they spoke with my agent. I talked with my wife, and she asked me what I wanted, and she always supports me in my decisions.”
Regarding the reason for rejecting the offer, he said: “It would have been easy to go there, especially since I know a number of Portuguese players in the Saudi league, but I still want to play at the highest level and compete for major titles. I still have a great passion for football.”
