أكد مدرب المنتخب القطري جولين لوبيتيغي، أن تحسن الأداء في الشوط الثاني قاد العنابي لتحقيق الفوز بهدف نظيف في المواجهة أمام اليمن التي جرت اليوم، على استاد مدينة الملك عبدالله الرياضية، في الجولة الثانية للمجموعة الثانية، ضمن بطولة كأس الخليج لكرة القدم المقامة في مدينة جدة بالسعودية.
وحسم المنتخب القطري تأهله رسمياً لنصف النهائي عقب خسارة البحرين أمام الإمارات بنتيجة صفر-3 ضمن المجموعة ذاتها، رافعاً رصيده إلى 6 نقاط، بعدما استهل مشواره بالفوز على نظيره البحريني بهدفين نظيفين.
وقال المدرب خلال المؤتمر الصحفي عقب اللقاء إن حسم التأهل للدور نصف النهائي من الجولة الثانية كان الهدف الأساسي الذي عمل على تحقيقه، مضيفاً أن الأداء في الشوط الأول كان أقل من الوسط.
وأوضح المدرب أنه قام بإجراء بعض التغييرات خلال المباراة بسبب معاناة بعض العناصر في صفوف المنتخب من الإجهاد والإرهاق، مشيراً إلى أن اللاعبين يمرون حالياً بمرحلة التعافي، مضيفاً أنه لم يحسم حتى الآن القائمة التي سيدفع بها في مباراة الجولة الثالثة أمام الإمارات، مؤكداً أنه يحاول دائماً اختيار أفضل العناصر المتاحة.
وعن مرحلة نصف النهائي من البطولة وهوية المنافس، أشار لوبيتيغي إلى أن الجهاز الفني سينتظر نتائج المباريات لمعرفة المنتخب الذي سيلتقي به، منوهاً إلى أن المنتخب القطري سيتعامل مع جميع المنتخبات بنفس التحدي والندية والرغبة في تحقيق الانتصار.
Qatar's national team coach Julen Lopetegui confirmed that the improvement in performance in the second half led the Maroon to achieve a clean victory with a goal against Yemen in the match held today at King Abdullah Sports City Stadium, in the second round of Group B, as part of the Gulf Cup of Football taking place in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia.
The Qatari team officially secured its qualification for the semifinals following Bahrain's loss to the UAE with a score of 0-3 in the same group, raising its points to 6 after starting its campaign with a 2-0 victory over Bahrain.
The coach stated during the press conference after the match that securing qualification for the semifinals in the second round was the main goal he aimed to achieve, adding that the performance in the first half was below average.
The coach explained that he made some changes during the match due to some players suffering from fatigue and exhaustion, noting that the players are currently in a recovery phase. He added that he has not yet finalized the list he will use in the third round match against the UAE, confirming that he always tries to choose the best available players.
Regarding the semifinals of the tournament and the identity of the opponent, Lopetegui pointed out that the coaching staff will wait for the results of the matches to know which team they will face, emphasizing that the Qatari team will approach all teams with the same challenge, competitiveness, and desire to win.
