أعلن رئيس الاتحاد الأوروغوياني لكرة القدم إغناسيو ألونسو تعيين دييغو فورلان مدرباً مؤقتاً للمنتخب الأول لكرة القدم، خلفاً للأرجنتيني مارسيلو بيليسا.
وكان بيلسا قد استقال من تدريب منتخب أوروغواي الشهر الماضي، عقب الخروج المخيب من كأس العالم 2026 من دور المجموعات، بعد تعادلين وهزيمة.
مهمتان مع أوروغواي
وقال ألونسو في تصريحات نقلتها شبكة «فوت ميركاتو» الفرنسية: «تم التوصل إلى اتفاق مع دييغو فورلان لتدريب منتخب تحت 20 عاماً، وكذلك المنتخب الأول في المباريات الودية القادمة».
وأضاف: «فورلان متحمس للغاية، على الرغم من وجود بعض التفاصيل التي لا تزال بحاجة إلى وضع اللمسات الأخيرة».
ومن المتوقع أن يتولى أسطورة أوروغواي قيادة «لا سيليستي» خلال فترات التوقف الدولي في سبتمبر وأكتوبر ونوفمبر، إضافة إلى المباريات الودية حتى مارس 2027.
خبراته التدريبية
ويمتلك النجم الدولي السابق دييغو فورلان - صاحب الـ112 مباراة دولية و36 هدفاً مع أوروغواي - رصيداً تدريبياً محدوداً، إذ خاض تجربتين فقط منذ دخوله عالم التدريب؛ الأولى مع نادي بينيارول في الدوري الأوروغوياني الممتاز عام 2020، والثانية مع نادي أتيناس في دوري الدرجة الثانية عام 2021.
The president of the Uruguayan Football Association, Ignacio Alonso, announced the appointment of Diego Forlán as the interim coach of the national football team, succeeding Argentine Marcelo Bielsa.
Bielsa had resigned from coaching the Uruguay national team last month, following a disappointing exit from the 2026 World Cup in the group stage, after two draws and a loss.
Two Missions with Uruguay
Alonso stated in remarks reported by the French network "Foot Mercato": "An agreement has been reached with Diego Forlán to coach the Under-20 team, as well as the senior team in the upcoming friendly matches."
He added: "Forlán is very excited, although there are still some details that need to be finalized."
The Uruguayan legend is expected to lead "La Celeste" during the international breaks in September, October, and November, in addition to friendly matches until March 2027.
Coaching Experience
The former international star Diego Forlán - who has 112 international matches and 36 goals with Uruguay - has limited coaching experience, having only undertaken two stints since entering the coaching world; the first with Peñarol in the Uruguayan Premier League in 2020, and the second with Atenas in the second division in 2021.
