تعتبر نسخة كأس العالم 2026 هي المشاركة الأولى في تاريخ مصطفى شوبير حارس منتخب مصر كلاعب في كأس العالم، وجاء تواجده في القائمة النهائية لمنتخب مصر بناءً على مستوياته الثابتة والمميزة محلياً وقارياً، ليُسجل رقماً قياسياً استثنائياً كأول ثنائي (أب وابن) من حراس المرمى يمثلان منتخب مصر في تاريخ بطولات كأس العالم، وانضم الحارس مصطفى شوبير لقائمة منتخب مصر الرسمية المشاركة في بطولة كأس العالم 2026، ليصبح بذلك ضمن عائلات المونديال التي حققت إنجازاً مميزاً بتمثيل بلادهم في كأس العالم، مكرراً مسيرة والده أحمد شوبير الذي حمى عرين الفراعنة في مونديال إيطاليا ١٩٩٠ الذي تواجد في قائمة منتخب مصر، وشارك في المباريات الثلاث التي خاضها الفراعنة أمام إنجلترا وهولندا وأيرلندا، وقدم مستويات قوية، وظل لسنوات طويلة الحارس الأساسي للأهلي ومنتخب مصر، قبل أن يعتزل الكرة وتبدأ رحلة شوبير الابن من قطاع الناشئين في الأهلي ومنه إلى حراسة عرين الفراعنة.
شوبير الأب والابن لم تكن التجربة الأولى في استمرار مسيرة الأب والابن في حراسة المرمى بكأس العالم بل سبقهم إليها الثنائي الدنماركي بيتر شمايلك وكاسبر شمايكل، لتسجل تجربة شوبير ونجله مصطفى كثاني تجربة في المونديال لاستكمال الابن مسيرة الأب في حراسة مرمى منتخب بلاده بالعرس المونديالي.

His presence in the final list of the Egyptian national team was based on his consistent and outstanding performances both locally and continentally, setting an exceptional record as the first duo (father and son) of goalkeepers to represent Egypt in the history of the World Cup tournaments. Goalkeeper Mustafa Shobeir joined the official list of the Egyptian national team participating in the 2026 World Cup, thus becoming part of the World Cup families that achieved a remarkable accomplishment by representing their country in the World Cup, mirroring the career of his father, Ahmed Shobeir, who defended the Pharaohs' goal in the 1990 World Cup in Italy, where he was included in the Egyptian national team list and participated in the three matches played by the Pharaohs against England, the Netherlands, and Ireland, delivering strong performances. For many years, he remained the first-choice goalkeeper for Al Ahly and the Egyptian national team before retiring from football, paving the way for his son Shobeir to start his journey from the youth sector at Al Ahly to guarding the Pharaohs' goal.
The experience of Shobeir, father and son, is not the first in the continuation of the father-son legacy in goalkeeping at the World Cup; the Danish duo Peter Schmeichel and Kasper Schmeichel preceded them.
