شاركت سفارة المملكة لدى الولايات المتحدة الأمريكية بأعمال «قمة الدبلوماسية الرياضية 2026»، في العاصمة الأمريكية واشنطن، بمشاركة مسؤولين حكوميين ودبلوماسيين وقادة من قطاعات الرياضة والأعمال من عدد من الدول، وذلك في إطار الحوارات الدولية المرتبطة بالاستعدادات لاستضافة كأس العالم FIFA 2026.
ومثّلت السفارة في القمة رئيسة قسم الدبلوماسية العامة والشؤون الإعلامية في سفارة المملكة لدى الولايات المتحدة حصة اليحيا، التي شاركت إلى جانب عدد من الدبلوماسيين والمسؤولين الدوليين في جلسات تناولت دور الرياضة في تعزيز التعاون الدولي، ودعم النمو الاقتصادي، وتقوية الروابط بين الشعوب.
واستعرضت السفارة خلال مشاركتها جهود المملكة في توظيف الرياضة بوصفها إحدى أدوات التقارب الثقافي والتواصل الدولي، وما تشهده المملكة من تطور متسارع في القطاع الرياضي ضمن مستهدفات رؤية المملكة 2030، إلى جانب استضافتها وتنظيمها العديد من الفعاليات والبطولات الرياضية العالمية.
وأكّدت السفارة أن الرياضة تمثل منصة فاعلة؛ لتعزيز التفاهم بين المجتمعات وبناء الشراكات الدولية، مشيرة إلى أهمية استضافة الولايات المتحدة وكندا والمكسيك بطولة كأس العالم 2026 في تعزيز التعاون بين الدول والشعوب من خلال الرياضة.
وشهدت القمة مشاركة ممثلين عن جهات حكومية أمريكية ودولية ومنظمات رياضية ومؤسسات مجتمعية وإقليمية، حيث ناقش المشاركون إسهامات الرياضة في الدبلوماسية العامة، والتنمية الاقتصادية، وتعزيز التفاعل المجتمعي وتمكين الشباب.
The Embassy of the Kingdom in the United States participated in the activities of the "Sports Diplomacy Summit 2026" in the U.S. capital, Washington, with the participation of government officials, diplomats, and leaders from the sports and business sectors from several countries, as part of the international dialogues related to the preparations for hosting the FIFA World Cup 2026.
The embassy was represented at the summit by the Head of the Public Diplomacy and Media Affairs Department at the Embassy of the Kingdom in the United States, Hissa Al-Yahya, who participated alongside several diplomats and international officials in sessions that addressed the role of sports in enhancing international cooperation, supporting economic growth, and strengthening ties between peoples.
During its participation, the embassy showcased the Kingdom's efforts in utilizing sports as a tool for cultural rapprochement and international communication, as well as the rapid development the Kingdom is witnessing in the sports sector within the targets of Vision 2030, along with its hosting and organizing of numerous global sports events and championships.
The embassy emphasized that sports represent an effective platform for enhancing understanding between communities and building international partnerships, noting the importance of the United States, Canada, and Mexico hosting the 2026 World Cup in fostering cooperation between countries and peoples through sports.
The summit witnessed the participation of representatives from U.S. and international government entities, sports organizations, and community and regional institutions, where participants discussed the contributions of sports to public diplomacy, economic development, enhancing community interaction, and empowering youth.
